Ascot Tips: Friday 10 July 2026
Good to firm ground at Ascot under partly cloudy skies sets up a solid card, and with three competitive handicaps on the bill, there are some genuine angles to work with. The going suits horses that travel through their races rather than grind, so proven form on quicker ground is a must today. Here are the races worth targeting.
3:10 โ JLL Handicap (1m, Good To Firm)
Eleven runners over the straight mile, and the form analysis points fairly clearly to the market leader. Crest of Fire tops the ratings on 97 and has proven trip and going, with placed efforts in the majority of his recent starts. The unplaced run 22 days ago is the one query, but the overall profile is strong and Jack Channon’s yard has been ticking over reasonably well.
At 9/4 he’s not a price to get excited about, but if you want an interest at bigger odds, Ya Karim Each-Way at 6/1 (BoyleSports/Betfred) has claims. Harry Charlton’s colt won two starts back and has posted placed efforts either side of that, handling today’s distance. A 44-day break is the main concern, but the form profile is tidier than several rivals rated above him. Kieran Shoemark takes the ride and knows how to hunt a pace in a mile handicap at Ascot.
Selection: Crest of Fire (9/4, Betfred) โ win only. Each-way alternative: Ya Karim (6/1, BoyleSports/Betfred)
4:23 โ Newmark EBF Fillies’ Handicap (1m4f, Good To Firm)
Nine fillies over a mile and four furlongs, and the market has latched onto William Haggas’s Hoseki at 6/5. Back-to-back wins on a quick 13-day turnaround is hard to ignore, and Haggas has been firing at a solid clip recently with 12 from 56 in the last fortnight. The going is covered. The problem is that 6/5 asks you to take very little juice on a three-year-old stepping into a more competitive nine-runner handicap, and her official rating of 85 puts her fifth of eight on the cards.
The selection here is Folk Pageant Each-Way at 5/1 (BoyleSports/Betfred). Charlie Johnston’s filly has four wins from her last six starts, including a hat-trick through the middle of that sequence. Today’s going is proven and she races off a mark of 89, which sits comfortably in this field. An unplaced run 20 days ago is the risk, but that is the single blot on an otherwise relentless recent record. Johnston’s yard is genuinely on the go right now with nine winners from 67 runners in the last 14 days, and Jack Callan rides with a 3lb claim. Three places at 1/5 odds makes this a proper each-way proposition at the price.
Selection: Folk Pageant (5/1, BoyleSports/Betfred) โ each-way
4:55 โ Savills Handicap Stakes (6f, Good To Firm)
Thirteen runners over six furlongs and this one is all about the form horse. Diligently at 4/1 (BoyleSports/Betfred) is the standout selection. Clive Cox’s gelding won last time out, bouncing back from a below-par effort two starts earlier, and the broader profile shows a runner-up effort and a pair of fourth-place finishes in the races surrounding that. The form is heading in the right direction, he is proven at the trip, and he comes back fresh after 25 days. Cox’s runners are always worth following at Ascot and Callum Rodriguez is a capable partner in a sprint handicap.
The main danger is Coul Angel at 11/2 (BoyleSports), who has been runner-up twice in his last five starts and rates among the leading dangers on the figures. Still winless, though, and Diligently’s winning profile in a 13-runner field makes him the stronger proposition.
With 13 runners and four places at 1/5 odds, Diligently represents genuine each-way value too if you want to play it safe, though at 4/1 a win single is the bolder call.
Selection: Diligently (4/1, BoyleSports/Betfred) โ win single
Today’s NAP
Odds: 4/1 โ BoyleSports (others: 4/1 Betfred, 4/1 LiveScore Bet)
A winner last time out over today’s exact trip, proven on good to firm, and trained by a handler who knows how to place a gelding in a sprint handicap. The form profile is improving at exactly the right time, and 4/1 in a 13-runner field represents fair value against a horse whose figures rate him clear of the pack. Callum Rodriguez has the booking, Cox’s yard is the one to be with, and this is the race where the form lines are clearest on the card.
