About World Snooker Championship
The World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield is the most prestigious event in professional snooker. Held annually across 17 days in April and May, it draws the sport's 32 finest players to a sold-out 980-seat theatre for a tournament that demands both excellence and endurance. The 2026 edition features defending champion Zhao Xintong, who became the first Asian player to lift the trophy in 2025 with an 18-12 victory over Mark Williams. Ronnie O'Sullivan, the record seven-time champion, remains a constant threat at the Crucible despite a quieter season. The format is unique in world snooker. First-round matches are best-of-19 frames, second-round best-of-25, quarter-finals best-of-25, semi-finals best-of-33 and the final best-of-35 across two sessions.
