A cancer survivor who has overcome serious health challenges during his career, Carter’s mental resilience makes him one of the toughest opponents in long-format matches. His safety game is among the best on tour and his ability to dismantle attacking opponents through tactical play has produced some notable scalps of higher-ranked players. From a betting perspective, Carter is a credible each-way selection at 50/1 to 80/1 in World Championship ante-post markets — he has two finals to his credit and his Crucible record demands respect. In shorter ranking events he is less consistent, but his match betting prices against players of similar ranking often represent value given his tactical superiority.
