Atalanta vs Bologna Betting Tips 2026

📅 14 May 2026 Football Italian Serie A

Late-Season Stakes at the Gewiss

Atalanta host Bologna on Sunday afternoon with European places still very much in the picture. Raffaele Palladino’s side sit seventh on 58 points, six clear of their opponents in eighth. A win here would put further daylight between the two, and with the table tight across the Europa Conference League spots, nothing is settled yet.

Atalanta’s form is a mixed bag, but there’s more in it than the results suggest. They went to San Siro and beat AC Milan 3-2, which is a serious result. The problem is sandwiching that with a 3-2 defeat away at Cagliari and a goalless draw at home to Genoa. Palladino’s team blow hot and cold. When they’re at it, they’re genuinely dangerous, but they give up chances too freely, shipping seven goals across their last five. At home this season, though, they’ve been solid enough: nine wins, six draws, and only three losses.

Gianluca Scamacca is absent and that matters. He and Nikola Krstović both hit ten goals this season, so losing Scamacca takes a significant weapon off the pitch. Krstović will need to carry more of the attacking load, and the likes of De Ketelaere and Pašalić will have to step up in the final third.

Bologna Running on Empty

Vincenzo Italiano’s side lost 0-4 to Aston Villa in the Europa League quarter-final in April, and you can see the psychological toll in the form since. Three defeats in their last four competitive matches, conceding ten goals in that span. The 3-2 win away at Napoli last time out was a bright spot, but Bologna’s defensive record has been nothing short of alarming lately.

At home they’ve been dreadful this season, winning just six and losing nine. Away from home, it’s actually a different story, nine away wins putting them among the better travelling sides in the division, but Atalanta’s Gewiss Stadium is a different proposition to most venues they’ve visited. Bologna have their own injury headaches with Juan Miranda, Tommaso Pobega, and Nicola Casale all ruled out.

Riccardo Orsolini leads their attacking numbers with nine goals from 34 appearances this season, and Santiago Castro has chipped in with seven. But against an Atalanta backline that, when switched on, has kept the opposition quiet at home, producing those moments of quality will be difficult.

Head-to-Head and the Betting Angle

Atalanta have dominated this fixture recently. They beat Bologna 2-0 in Bologna back in January, and before that ran out 2-0 winners at the Gewiss in April 2025. Go back to September 2024 and it was a 1-1 draw in Bologna. The last time Bologna won here was back in March 2024, a 1-2 victory. The head-to-head has shifted firmly in Atalanta’s favour over the past 18 months.

The goals angle is also worth a look. Atalanta have been involved in high-scoring games, but their home record shows more control than their away form suggests, and Bologna have conceded ten in their last five. Over 2.5 goals at 1.62 has obvious appeal given both sides’ defensive issues. That said, three of the last five meetings between these clubs produced under three goals.

The stronger play is Atalanta to win. They’re at home, they’ve beaten Bologna convincingly twice already this season, and they’re the more settled side despite losing Scamacca. Bologna are finishing the season on fumes after a punishing European run. The 1.7 is short, but it reflects reality. This Atalanta side at the Gewiss, with six points to protect against the team directly below them, should have enough to get the job done.

Atalanta to Win
Odds: 1.7 — BoyleSports

Atalanta have beaten Bologna twice already this season and carry the home advantage in a fixture where the table gap and the head-to-head both point the same way. Bologna are shipping goals and missing key personnel. Palladino’s side to take all three points.
