Ayr, Monday 13 July 2026: Tips & Analysis
A seven-race card at Ayr on good ground, and while this is a Monday afternoon programme rather than a feature day, there are angles worth attacking. The going suits horses who can travel through a race rather than grind, and with the MLB All-Star Game kicking off in Atlanta tomorrow, anyone looking for a midweek punting fix could do a lot worse than dig into this Ayrshire card. Three races stand out as genuinely priceable.

Selection: Weleyff (6/4, Boyle Sports)
Edward Bethell has been plugging away at 3/23 over the last 14 days, which is modest but not alarming for a smaller yard. The horse that catches the eye here is Weleyff, ridden by Oisin Orr, who showed enough on debut to suggest this 7f on good ground suits him well. The form figure of 3 puts him in line with both Love Rome and Mr Minz, but it is Weleyff who attracts the market support at 6/4 favourite.
Vega King under Pierre-Louis Jamin comes in at 2/1 for Karl Burke, a yard that has rattled through 5/35 in the past fortnight, respectable numbers. Burke rarely sends horses north without a solid reason. However, at the price, Weleyff looks the right side of the market. If you want the value shout in a small field, Vega King at 2/1 is the alternative play. Five runners means no each-way value at any price worth discussing here.

Selection: Jm Jhingree Each-Way (6/1, Boyle Sports and Betfred)
Eleven runners over five furlongs on good ground, three places at 1/5 odds, and a field where several market leaders carry questions. This is exactly the sort of race to be spreading your money.
Woohoo is the 15/8 jolly off the back of a second last time, but she is running for the third time in quick succession and Jim Goldie has been sending out plenty of runners without lighting the place up. The market may be overstating her claims here.
Jm Jhingree, trained by Ewan Whillans, won last time out and is back within 18 days. Yes, the consistency question hangs over a horse who posted figures like 508671, but that winning run is the freshest piece of form in his record and he has proven distance and going form to back it up. At 6/1 with three places on offer, this is a price worth taking each-way. Sean Kirrane on King’s Crown at 11/2 is the obvious alternative, Kirrane being a 17% winner here with an A/E of 1.19. King’s Crown has been improving of late, a third two starts back and a fourth last time, and the Dods yard is ticking over. He makes plenty of appeal for an each-way saver.

Selection: White Ladder (5/2, Boyle Sports)
John Ryan has a 25% strike rate at Ayr with an A/E of 1.52. That is the standout trainer stat on the entire card and it demands attention. White Ladder runs for Ryan, ridden by Sean D Bowen, and arrives here off the back of a win last time out. Before that, consecutive thirds and a second confirmed the horse was knocking on the door. He is back quickly, seven days after winning, which suggests Ryan has him spot on and sees an opportunity at a track where his yard clearly thrives.
The note on the card says he now rates above his official mark following that win, which is the one thing that gives pause. Handicappers can squeeze these horses fast. But Ryan at Ayr is a combination worth following on its numbers alone, and a horse in winning form at a track where the trainer fires at one in four is a compelling angle.
Azuinthejungle tops the form figures in this race and Alex Jary has a decent 15% record here with an A/E of 1.25, but Nigel Tinkler’s yard is cold at 1/29 over the last fortnight. Thunderstorm Katie has posted three consecutive seconds for Jim Goldie, whose yard has been firing at 7/30 in the past two weeks, giving her each-way claims at 5/1 to 7/1. Nine runners, three places, that is worth a small saver.

Odds: 5/2 โ Boyle Sports (others: 9/4 Betfred, 2/1 LiveScore Bet)
John Ryan operates at a 25% strike rate at Ayr with an A/E of 1.52, the best trainer stat on the card by some distance. White Ladder won last time out after a run of placed efforts, arrives here just seven days later suggesting the yard has him primed, and has the distance and going firmly covered. Grab the 5/2 with Boyle Sports before this shortens further.
