Bellewstown, 2 July 2026: Tips and Best Bets

A seven-race card at Bellewstown on a decent summer afternoon, good ground underfoot and a partly sunny sky overhead. The track rewards horses that settle and travel, and the going suits horses with a clean action. Three races stand out for punters looking for value: the EBF Fillies Maiden at 5:10, the Auction Series Maiden at 6:41, and the five-furlong handicap at 7:16. Here is where the angles are.

5:10 โ€” Irish EBF Median Sires Series Fillies Maiden (1m, Good)

Selection: Party In Vegas (3/1, Boyle Sports)

Joseph Patrick O’Brien is no stranger to this race, having saddled two of the last five winners of this specific contest. That is not a coincidence, it is a yard that targets these opportunities deliberately. His 14-day numbers back it up: 13 winners from 63 runners, a strike rate that tells you the string is operating at full capacity right now.

Party In Vegas is a 35,000gns Lucky Vega breeze-up purchase, which suggests she has already shown something to the team behind closed doors. Her dam showed useful form at seven furlongs, so the mile trip today is not a leap of faith, it is an obvious fit. Dylan Browne McMonagle takes the ride, and he does not go anywhere without a genuine chance.

The market leader Cashel Queen is hard to dismiss. She shaped with real promise on debut at Leopardstown, finishing third on soft ground over 7f, and the step to a mile suits. However, at 5/4 you are taking a very short price about a horse who has not yet won, and the O’Brien yard’s specific record in this race is the kind of angle that deserves to be respected at a bigger number. Back Party In Vegas at 3/1 on debut, knowing the stable rarely runs these fillies cold.

6:41 โ€” Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden (5f, Good)

Selection: Hip Hop Chrissy (10/11, Boyle Sports)

This is a five-furlong dash for two-year-olds and it is not the most complex puzzle on the card. Hip Hop Chrissy showed genuine early pace on debut, travelled prominently, and kept on for third without being knocked about. The drop back to the minimum trip looks tailor-made, the good ground suits, and Donnacha O’Brien’s yard, while slightly below peak in the last fortnight, is not a stable you dismiss in juvenile maidens.

Bit Of A Buzz is the main danger at 15/8. Four starts and four finishes in the frame tell you he is consistent and will run his race. But consistent fourth placers are the bane of punters; he has had his chances and keeps finding something better. Hip Hop Chrissy, at odds-on, is not a spectacular value play, but the speed profile is right for the trip and the market is telling you the same thing.

If you want a bigger-priced angle in this race, Annie Batt at 16/1 has the 5f breeding credentials as an Equiano filly, a half-sister to a useful five-furlong performer. Debut horses can always spring a surprise, and the speed on both sides of her page is evident. Small each-way interest is not unreasonable.

7:16 โ€” Indaver Ireland Handicap (5f, Good)

Selection: Namiid (11/10, Boyle Sports)

Six runners, and this looks a straightforward affair at the top of the market. Namiid is trained by J P Murtagh, who carries a 15% win rate at this track, and the horse himself arrives in genuine form. He got off the mark two runs ago, then followed up with a solid handicap debut last time, beaten just two lengths in blinkers. Today he switches to first-time cheekpieces, which is a trainer’s move suggesting there is more to come.

He is effective at 5f on good ground, his figures put him comfortably clear at the top of this field, and Ben Coen is booked. This is not a glamour race but Namiid is the class act in the line-up and the price, while short, reflects a genuine advantage over rivals with more question marks.

Rosie Frith at 8/1 with Colin Keane up is worth a line if you want each-way coverage. Keane’s 19% strike rate at Bellewstown from 246 rides is one of the strongest jockey-course combinations in the data, and Rosie Frith has ability when in the mood. Her Epsom run in 2026 was poor, but she has form over the trip on faster surfaces, and a bounce back at this level is not out of the question. Keane booking alone makes her more interesting than her price suggests.

Each-Way Rosie Frith (8/1, Boyle Sports) at 2 places, 1/4 odds, is a proper each-way price in a small-field sprint where Keane’s course record is a real edge.

Today’s NAP

Jockey silksNamiid โ€” Indaver Ireland Handicap (7:16, Bellewstown)
Odds: 11/10 โ€” Boyle Sports (others: 11/10 Betfred, 11/10 LiveScore Bet)

The figures are clear, the form is progressive, and the headgear switch to cheekpieces after blinkers worked last time gives JP Murtagh’s team another lever to pull. Namiid beat two of the field on his handicap debut and the best of these rivals have bigger questions to answer. In a race of six with no standout danger, this is as close to a confident selection as Bellewstown will offer today.
