Bellewstown, Saturday 11 April 2026: Day Tips

Bellewstown on a yielding to soft surface is a genuine test of temperament as much as ability. The track's undulations and the give underfoot today will sort out horses with stamina in their pedigree from those who want faster ground. Three races catch the eye, and there's a genuine NAP opportunity tucked in among them. While the boxing cards and the Aintree build-up dominate the weekend headlines, don't sleep on what's on offer in Co. Meath today.

4:17 โ€” Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden (1m, Yielding To Soft)

Selection: Suspicious Mindz (3/1, Bet365)

This is the standout race of the early card and the form book points firmly in one direction. Suspicious Mindz carries a Racing Post Rating of 95, which leaves every other runner here in the dust. The closest challenger on RPR is Karrygrant at 84, trained by Johnny Murtagh, who has saddled two winners in the last 14 days but from 32 runners, so the yard isn't exactly flying at present.

Suspicious Mindz, trained by Jessica Harrington, has form figures of 8353 coming into this, and that record on the flat might look modest at a glance. But the RPR of 95 tells you this horse has shown genuine ability. Shane Foley takes the ride, and Foley is not a jockey who gets on bad horses in maiden company. The yielding to soft going is unlikely to inconvenience a horse with that class advantage, and a mile at Bellewstown should suit a galloping type.

Harrington's yard is 0/16 in the last 14 days, which is a stat that demands respect as a caution flag. But the sheer class edge here is hard to ignore. At 3/1 with Bet365, this is the price you take. The market is doing the right thing.

New Radical at 14/1 (William Hill) is worth a mention for each-way purposes in this 14-runner field. Jack Davison's yard hasn't fired recently but New Radical's RPR of 71 could sneak a place at that price.

6:30 โ€” His Majesty's Cup Handicap (5f, Yielding To Soft, 12 runners)

Selection: Mint Man Each-Way (5/1, Bet365)

Five furlongs on yielding to soft at Bellewstown in a 12-runner handicap. This is exactly the race to get stuck into each-way, and the angle here is impossible to ignore once you look at trainer form.

P J F Murphy has sent out two winners from just two runners in the last 14 days. Two from two. That's a yard firing on all cylinders, and Mint Man carries that ammunition into a competitive sprint. The horse's RPR of 84 and a TS of 82 show he's in form, and that last TS figure is particularly relevant because it reflects recent performance, not historical ability. His form reads 1488-7, and while the last run was a seven, the win before the break was clearly the real Mint Man. Ben Coen is booked, and Coen doesn't waste his time on no-hopers in handicap company.

The yielding to soft is the one question mark. At five furlongs, some sprinters hate the dig in the ground, but at 5/1 with Bet365 and four places paid at 1/5 odds, the each-way case is solid.

Amiata at 15/2 with Bet365 also deserves a look. G M Lyons is 2/7 in the last 14 days, reasonable strike rate, and this three-year-old has an RPR of 87 and a recent TS of 84, one of the highest on the card. The weight advantage at 130lbs compared to the top weights is useful in a race like this.

4:48 โ€” Mac Tar Handicap (1m, Yielding To Soft, 13 runners)

Selection: Personified (7/2, William Hill)

Joseph O'Brien is 4/40 in the last 14 days, which sounds mediocre until you remember that's ten percent from a massive book of runners, and in handicap company that's respectable. Personified is ridden by Declan McDonogh, a jockey who picks his spots in this grade carefully.

The filly's form reads 7853 and her RPR of 69 is competitive here. She's been knocking on the door, the handicapper hasn't overreacted, and a mile on yielding to soft ground at Bellewstown for a three-year-old filly from this yard has the right profile. The market has her as a short favourite at 7/2, which limits the each-way appeal slightly, but this is the most straightforward win bet on the card.

Gavin Cromwell is 6/50 in the last 14 days, which is a consistent strike rate for a big yard, and his runner Spirit Honour at 10/1 with Bet365 offers each-way value in this 13-runner field. Three wins from nine runs in career form and Gary Carroll in the saddle is not a combination to dismiss at double-figures.

Today's NAP

Suspicious Mindz โ€” Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden, 4:17 Bellewstown
Odds: 3/1 โ€” Bet365 (others: 3/1 William Hill, 11/4 Coral)

The RPR of 95 dwarfs the opposition in this 14-runner maiden, with the nearest rival on ratings sitting 11lb below. Shane Foley rides, the horse has already shown ability far above this company in previous starts, and the yielding to soft mile at Bellewstown is no barrier for a horse of this class. Harrington's recent form is cold, but when the talent gap is this wide, the yard form becomes a secondary concern. Bet365's 3/1 is the best price available and represents genuine value against a horse who should win if producing anything close to its best.
