Beverley Tips: Tuesday 12 May 2026
Beverley on good to firm ground suits horses with a bit of class and a clean action. The stiff finish on this undulating track finds out anything that doesn’t stay its trip, and the sprint course in particular rewards those drawn low when the pace is strong. Six races on the card today, three of which are worth focusing on. Here are the selections.
2:30 โ Clearanswer Call Centres Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (7ยฝf, Good To Firm)
Lovers Leap (4/11, Boyle Sports) is the clear market leader and the form angle stacks up. Jane Chapple-Hyam’s filly ran at this very track on her seasonal return, shaping positively in a longer maiden and finishing third with cheekpieces fitted. The drop back to seven and a half furlongs is flagged as a potential plus, and she retains the headgear. De Sousa stays on board, which tells its own story about stable confidence.
The odds-on price means each-way play is pointless in a six-runner field. Back her to win at 4/11. Furtado’s Crown Of Dreams has some upside after a debut at Newcastle, but she was beaten thirteen lengths and needs a significant step forward. The non-runner Food For Thought would have pushed things considerably, so this is a simpler task for Lovers Leap than it might have been.
Selection: Lovers Leap at 4/11 (Boyle Sports/Betfred)
3:00 โ EBF Novice Stakes (5f, Good To Firm)
Anchiano (8/11, Boyle Sports) commands the market on debut, and the profile is worth respecting. George Scott has made a decent start with two-year-olds this season, and the purchase price (110,000 guineas at breeze-up) signals that connections have seen something to like. The Acclamation breeding screams early speed, and this is an Acclamation half-brother to a five-furlong winner. The good to firm ground suits the profile perfectly.
The stronger each-way case at bigger odds belongs to Navy Light Each-Way at 11/8 (Boyle Sports/Betfred). The Fahey yard is quieter than usual over the last fortnight (3/29), but Navy Light showed genuine promise at Ripon, staying on for fourth over six furlongs. The drop to five is the one query, but he had plenty of untapped speed at Ripon and the form pick angle is noted in the commentary. At 11/8, there is place value in a six-runner field with just two places on offer, so if splitting the two, the framing each-way play on Navy Light has merit.
Selection: Anchiano at 8/11 (Boyle Sports/Betfred) to win. Navy Light each-way at 11/8 as the saver.
4:00 โ Annie Oxtoby Memorial Handicap (5f, Good To Firm, 11 runners)
An eleven-runner sprint handicap on good to firm ground at Beverley. Draws matter here, and the inside draw highlighted in the commentary is key to understanding why Glory Hyde (7/2, Boyle Sports) is the one to be with.
Glory Hyde Each-Way won at Wetherby over five and a half furlongs on good to firm ground most recently, a neck success that showed she retains her ability at five years old. Crucially, she has already won over this course and distance, so Beverley holds no fears. Roger Fell’s yard has a small but sharp 14-day record (1/7), suggesting the horses going out are ready. The inside draw is specifically called out as an advantage. At 7/2, this is a fair price for a filly with C&D form and a recent win on the exact going conditions she faces today.
Hover On The Wind (7/1, Boyle Sports) also has strong claims. He won here at this same C&D mark on good to firm ground last May, defying a mark two pounds higher than today, and returned from a break to run close on the all-weather last time out despite traffic problems. Paul Midgley is in reasonable form (3/17). He can run into the places at a bigger price.
Fuji Mountain at 8/1 is worth an each-way nod too. Close seconds at Pontefract and placed runs over C&D with blinkers on suggest the headgear is keeping him honest. Declan Carroll’s yard has been sharp (3/13 over 14 days) and the young claimer Zak Wheatley takes off a useful three pounds.
Selection: Glory Hyde each-way at 7/2 (best price LiveScore Bet at 10/3 for the win, 7/2 Boyle Sports/Betfred each-way). Three places at 1/5 odds.
Today’s NAP
Odds: 7/2 โ Boyle Sports (others: 7/2 Betfred, 10/3 LiveScore Bet)
Good to firm is exactly what she wants, she has won over this course and distance before, and she arrives here with a recent win at Wetherby on similar ground in the book. The inside draw in an eleven-runner sprint is a genuine tactical advantage at Beverley, and Roger Fell’s small string looks to be in decent nick. At 7/2 in an open handicap where she ticks every condition-specific box, this is the value pick of the card.
