Beverley Tips: Tuesday 16 June 2026

A six-race card at Beverley on good to soft ground under cloudy skies. The track’s sweeping turn and stiff finish suit horses with a genuine staying action, and that extra bit of cut in the ground today will play into the hands of horses proven on a soft surface. Three races to focus on here, with a couple of angles worth getting on early before the market tightens.

6:30 — Napoleons Casino Hull EBF Novice Stakes (7½f)

Selection: Out Of This World (9/4, Boyle Sports / Betfred) ridden by P J McDonald for James Tate.

A winner on debut, Out Of This World steps back up after showing the right profile for a horse heading further. Tate’s yard is 0/9 in the last 14 days, which is a flag, but Beverley’s 7½f on good to soft suits a colt with scope, and McDonald taking the ride rather than a lesser pilot tells you something about how the stable views him. The market has him slightly adrift of Waasil at 7/4, but that one ran fourth last time and is trained by Karl Burke, who has solid course stats. The value lies with the Tate colt at 9/4 given his unbeaten record makes him the most unexposed runner in the field.

Persian Land at 2/1 ran second last time and is solid each way, but the favourite Waasil at 7/4 is shorter than the form warrants after a placed fourth. Out Of This World is the price to take.

7:00 — Connexin Ultrafast Maiden Stakes (7½f)

Selection: Race To The Edge (15/8, Betfred) ridden by Robbie Downey for Roger Varian.

This is the race of the evening from a punting perspective. Roger Varian is the standout trainer at this track statistically, winning at a 36% clip from 67 runners with an A/E of 1.17. That is not a fluke sample; that is a trainer who knows how to place horses at Beverley and target it effectively. Race To The Edge showed ability in both starts, running sevens and threes on form figures that suggest there is plenty of improvement to come on this step up. The 7½f trip and the give in the ground both look ideal for a Varian three-year-old. At 15/8 with Betfred, this is the value play of the card. Bee Farmer at 9/4 for Edward Bethell is the main market rival, but Bethell’s 14-day yard form is poor and his Beverley A/E of 0.9 trails Varian’s considerably. Back the Varian horse with confidence.

8:00 — Coachman Caravans Classic Handicap (5f)

Selection: Miss Brazen Each-Way (9/1, Boyle Sports / Betfred) ridden by Lewis Chalkley for Michael and David Easterby.

Ten runners over five furlongs on good to soft ground, and the market has latched onto Azuinthejungle at 9/4 despite a recent form line that reads 40-704. That is not a horse screaming for a bet at odds-on territory. Fierce at 10/3 for Paul Midgley catches the eye on recent form (showed a 32 in the latest two runs), but it is Miss Brazen who offers genuine each-way appeal at 9/1 in a race where three places are paid.

The Easterby yard has hit form with 3 winners from 30 in the last fortnight, and a 6yo mare who posted a 136 in her last three runs is exactly the type who can run into the places at this level. The 5f Beverley trip on cut ground suits a mare who has been running consistently at this sort of mark, and at 9/1 with 1/5 odds for three places, the each-way case is strong. Keldeo also deserves a mention for Ollie Pears on recent efforts but has been knocking on the door without winning; backing her at 11/2 is chasing a break rather than spotting a value angle.
