David Loughnane’s runner arrives here with form figures of 23, placing on both starts, and his trainer is the standout name in the Beverley stats with a 17% course strike rate and, crucially, an A/E of 1.53. That is the number that matters: it means Loughnane’s runners at this track consistently beat their market expectations. He wins here with horses priced in this range all the time.

Rowan Scott takes the ride, a jockey who knows this track well and keeps good company with the top northern yards. But at 4/1 the market has already priced that in, and the each-way terms on an eight-runner race are only three places, so the win case has to be compelling.

Instead, the value angle is Norcross Brow at 9/4 with Boyle Sports and Betfred. Charlie Clover’s yard has been operating with serious intent recently, returning 2 winners from just 5 runners over the last 14 days. That is a 40% strike rate, and that kind of form tells you a yard is ready to go to war. Norcross Brow’s form reads 468312: three placed efforts in the last three starts, including a win two back and a runner-up last time. He handles today’s distance and going, and 9/4 about a horse with a progressive profile and a trainer firing at 40% looks competitive rather than generous but it is the safest win bet on the card.

For those who want each-way cover, Walk On Walk On Each-Way at 8/1 with Boyle Sports and Betfred is worth a small saver. Runner-up last time out, bottom-rated by the analysts, but that second has to count for something and 8/1 in an eight-runner handicap at least gives you the price.
