Missouri Waltz lines up ridden by M. P. Sheehy and takes on an 11-runner field. Freshwater is the market leader at 11/4 and is trained by David O’Meara, who has been ticking over without setting the world alight recently (3/44 in 14 days). Cieren Fallon on Havana Court is worth a mention given his extraordinary Catterick record (33% wins, A/E 1.66) but at 6/1 with Betfred, the value is limited for a maiden runner with just two starts to his name showing a best finish of third.

The Keatley/Catterick combination and the yard’s current form tip the scales toward Missouri Waltz at 3/1. This is a maiden for horses in Bands C and D, so we are not talking about Group prospects, which levels the playing field nicely and makes the trainer angle even more significant.

The comment data here practically hands you the selection. A gelding rated 71 against an official mark of just 60 is carrying a significant amount of untapped ability, and that gap is the entire angle. Handicappers are slow to react to improving juveniles, and if Hamdani Mokhater reproduces his latest second at pace, he has the capacity to outrun his mark substantially.

The fitness edge is real. Only eight days since his last run, this gelding arrives race-sharp while others come off longer breaks. He has already handled today’s trip and the good to firm ground suits horses who travel efficiently rather than relying on stamina. Trainer James Horton has not had the best 14 days (0/5) but that small sample is not enough to put you off a horse whose figures tell such a clear story.

Little Lady Karen at 15/8 is the obvious market rival, but K. R. Burke’s filly comes back from a 29-day break and is described as sitting just below the pace on ratings. Koodini has the placed form but is yet to win in five starts and the Palmer yard has been modest at Catterick (A/E 0.9). At 7/4, Hamdani Mokhater is not the longest price you will ever back, but the ratings gap and fitness angle make it genuinely strong value in a five-runner field.

Four runners over a mile and a half, and the form book points clearly in one direction. Hibernate has won twice in the last four starts and finished second most recently, which is the kind of consistent, upwardly-mobile profile you want to be backing in a small field where you cannot hide behind a field of rivals.

Daniel Tudhope is in the saddle and his overall Catterick numbers are solid (18% wins). More importantly, Ed Dunlop’s yard has delivered three winners from 21 runners in the last fortnight and carries a strong A/E of 1.09 at this track over a longer period. Dunlop horses at Catterick perform to expectation, and Hibernate arrives as the lowest-rated in the field, which often means the handicapper has given him a competitive opening.

L’Eagle Aid is the favourite at 11/10 but has not won in five starts and comes back just 11 days after its last run. Something at 7/2 is consistent but has a 35-day gap since last running, which is always a slight concern on fast ground where horses need to be bouncing. Explode had a bad run last time out and needs to bounce back sharply.

Hibernate at 11/4 is the value call in a race where the form and stable conditions point clearly his way.
