A six-race card at Chepstow on good to firm ground, and while the fields are small across the board, there are angles worth exploiting. The going suits horses with a quick action, and several of the trainer and jockey stats here are genuinely useful pointers. David O’Meara and James Owen both post strong win rates at this track, and Ray Dawson’s A/E of 1.31 from the saddle here makes him one to follow when his book is competitive. Let’s get into it.

Four runners, no RPR or TS data to lean on, so this comes down to trainer form, jockey confidence and market positioning. Rogue Dakota is the 2/1 favourite for Archie Watson and Harry Davies, and Watson’s 20% course strike rate is solid. But at even money, Downonmainstreet is being asked to do a lot of convincing from a form line of 73, and that second run form is frankly thin.

The angle here is Calef at 3/1 for David O’Meara and Ray Dawson. O’Meara wins at 29% at Chepstow, the best trainer stat on the card, and Dawson’s A/E of 1.31 here is the sharpest jockey figure in the data. A form line of 44344 won’t set pulses racing, but this filly has been knocking around consistently and a small field on fast ground over five furlongs suits. The 3/1 is a fair price against a favourite who has only run twice and a 2/1 chance trained by a yard running at just 2/22 in the last 14 days. O’Meara’s horses at this track represent genuine value and Dawson knows how to ride it.

6:30 Dunraven Windows Handicap Stakes (5f, Good To Firm)

Seven runners over the minimum trip in a 5f handicap, and the form comments make this a proper puzzle. Level Up is the standout each-way angle here, and the case is stronger than the 8/1 suggests at first glance.

Level Up Each-Way won last time out, just 13 days ago, and has three second-place finishes in his last six starts. A seven-year-old gelding with that kind of consistency doesn’t stop winning for good, and David Evans is operating at 3/17 in the last 14 days, which is a yard that is ticking over. Yes, he’s ranked last on figures, but handicappers at this level with recent winning form and fast-ground experience at the trip should not be dismissed at 8/1 in a field of seven. Betfred and LiveScore Bet offer 17/2, which makes the each-way case even more appealing with two places paid at quarter odds.

The market leader Rogue Bullet has the form and the course experience to justify favouritism, and Moe’s Legacy at 10/3 is a consistent performer who keeps finishing second. But for value at this price, Level Up is the play each-way.

This is the most interesting race on the card. Seven runners over a mile, two places paid, and a field where the form throws up several live contenders.

William Haggas posts a 25% course win rate at Chepstow from a big sample, and Windbreaker would be interesting if the recent form wasn’t so poor. A sixth last time out and that ranking of sixth of seven rules him out here despite the trainer credentials.

The selection is Nakaaha Each-Way at 8/1 for Grace Harris and David Egan. A win two starts back is the headline, the experience over today’s trip and conditions is ticked, and Egan wins at 18% at this track with an A/E just shy of 1.0. Harris’s yard hasn’t fired much recently (0/18 in 14 days), but that can make a winner all the more likely when the penny drops, and the 8/1 reflects the trainer’s cold run more than this filly’s individual ability.

Talis Evolvere is the ratings pick and the second in three starts back was promising, but six starts without a win is a concern at 11/2. Spirit Of The Bay and Auburn Avenue both won last time out and deserve respect, but Nakaaha at 8/1 each-way offers the best value in the race. Two places at quarter odds is a reasonable safety net at a price the market has arguably underestimated.
