Fairyhouse, Friday 12 June 2026: Best Bets

Fairyhouse stages an eight-race evening card on good to yielding ground under cloudy skies. The going should suit horses that travel through the ground rather than those that need it dead underfoot, and with three featured races worth dissecting, there is genuine each-way value to be found across the card. Trainer Mark Fahey’s course record here is outstanding, A/E of 1.65 from 42 runners, and that angle looms large in one of the feature events.

4:27 โ€” Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden (6f, 19 runners)

Switching Sides heads the market at 10/11 on the back of a second-place debut, and Jessica Harrington’s yard has been in solid recent form with four winners from 26 runners in the last fortnight. The price is cramped for a 19-runner maiden with no RPR data to anchor confidence, and that is the problem.

The each-way angle here is Razmataz Each-Way at 10/1 with Boyle Sports for Donnacha O’Brien. The trainer has a 20% strike rate at Fairyhouse with an A/E of 1.16, which means his runners here pay their way. Declan McDonogh takes the ride, a strong booking in a big-field maiden. In a 19-runner race paying three places at 1/5, getting 2/1 the place at a double-figure price in what amounts to a lottery makes commercial sense. O’Brien regularly sends sharp types to Fairyhouse maidens and Razmataz, a debut runner, fits the mould of a yard that prepares its juveniles properly before the track rather than using it as schooling.

  • Selection: Razmataz (Each-Way)
  • Best price: 10/1 Boyle Sports, 10/1 Betfred
  • Jockey: Declan McDonogh

6:45 โ€” Pat’s Carpets Race (7f, 9 runners)

This is the race of the evening and the one where Mark Fahey’s Fairyhouse record demands attention. His 17% course strike rate at an A/E of 1.65 is not a small-sample fluke across 42 runners, it is a genuine trainer-track affinity.

Tina’s Indian Each-Way runs for Fahey here at 15/2 with Boyle Sports, ridden by Gavin Ryan. The form reads 31-404 which tells a story of a horse that has placed at a decent level and knows how to get competitive. The yard has fired in one from ten in the past fortnight, so the string is not ice cold. At 15/2 in a nine-runner field, this is a price that accounts for recent form without giving Fahey’s Fairyhouse record any credit whatsoever.

The market leader is Cowardofthecounty at 5/2 for Joseph Patrick O’Brien, who has been in strong form with ten winners from 60 runners recently. His Fairyhouse A/E sits at 0.92 though, meaning his runners here have historically returned below expectation. Zodiac Bear at 11/4 for Johnny Murtagh is shorter than his recent form (013-4) justifies at this track, where Murtagh’s yard also runs to a 0.95 A/E.

Queen Of The Bogs at 11/1 for John Joseph Murphy is worth a second look at that price with Shane Foley up, form reading 718 from three starts with a seventh, first and eighth. A touch too inconsistent to commit to outright, but the place terms are tempting.

  • Selection: Tina’s Indian (Each-Way)
  • Best price: 15/2 Boyle Sports, 15/2 Betfred
  • Jockey: Gavin Ryan

7:55 โ€” Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden (1m4f, 17 runners)

Seventeen runners over a mile and four furlongs on good to yielding ground makes this a proper test of stamina and temperament for some lightly raced or unraced horses. Henry De Bromhead holds two entries: the 11/2 shot Ma Belle Etoile under W J Lee, and Coexist at 25/1. The stable has seven winners from 47 runners in the past fortnight, a yard operating with real purpose right now.

Ma Belle Etoile is the selection at 11/2. A six-year-old mare who has been around the block, she is the experience in a field of predominantly young, unexposed horses. The 1m4f trip on good to yielding should suit a mare who presumably gets the distance at this stage of her career, and De Bromhead’s current form merits respect. W J Lee is a reliable booking for a horse the stable wants to get placed or better.

Bell Ex Too at 12/1 for RP Cody is the value alternative in the each-way market. Form reads 65, modest but the horse has run to a level and the 3yo age allowance here is worth something over older rivals who have their own limitations.

  • Selection: Ma Belle Etoile
  • Best price: 11/2 Boyle Sports, 11/2 Betfred, 11/2 LiveScore Bet
  • Jockey: W J Lee

Today’s NAP

Jockey silksTina’s Indian โ€” Pat’s Carpets Race (6:45, Fairyhouse)
Odds: 15/2 โ€” Boyle Sports (others: 15/2 Betfred, 7/1 LiveScore Bet)

Mark Fahey runs his horses at Fairyhouse with a purpose that the statistics bear out clearly, an A/E of 1.65 from 42 runners is one of the standout trainer-track combinations on the Irish flat circuit. Tina’s Indian has placed previously and arrives at a track where his handler consistently gets results, while the market has loaded up on Joseph Patrick O’Brien and Murtagh runners whose Fairyhouse A/E figures are both below 1.00. The 15/2 is a gift given the angle.
