Fairyhouse, Wednesday 8 July 2026: Tips and Best Bets

An eight-race card at Fairyhouse on good to firm ground, with three featured races worth targeting. The going should suit horses with a clean action and a good cruising speed, and the Group 3 fillies contest over a mile and six furlongs is the standout race of the evening. J P Murtagh’s yard holds strong course figures at this track, and Ben Coen is always a jockey worth following here on the right day.

5:08 โ€” Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden (6f)

A 2yo fillies maiden with plenty of unknowns, but the market is pointing hard at Livenka (5/4, Boyle Sports/Betfred), trained by G M Lyons and ridden by Colin Keane. Two runs, two thirds, and while the yard has had a quiet 14-day spell, Keane’s 17% strike rate at Fairyhouse is a consistent thread. The worry is whether Livenka has the pace to dominate from the front over six furlongs on fast ground, having already been beaten twice at shorter prices.

The each-way angle here is Argentarius Each-Way at 10/3 with Ben Coen aboard for Daniel Murphy. One run, one second, and Coen’s booking is always significant. Golden Ring at the same price is an A P O’Brien debutant with Wayne Lordan up, and that combination at 10/3 on debut deserves respect, but with no form line to go on, Argentarius has already shown she can find the frame. At three places each-way in a 10-runner maiden, the 10/3 with a runs-into-form filly makes plenty of sense.

Selection: Argentarius each-way at 10/3 (Boyle Sports)

6:50 โ€” Darley Irish EBF Stanerra Stakes (Fillies’ and Mares’ Group 3, 1m6f)

The race of the night, and the market makes this look like a two-horse affair between Goodie Two Shoes (evens) and Perfect Your Craft (3/1). Goodie Two Shoes is the ratings pick and carries the Joseph Patrick O’Brien yard, which has sent out 13 winners from 63 runners over the past fortnight. The first-time tongue-tie is eye-catching, but her last run was a well-beaten eighth, and at evens that is a lot of faith to place in a seven-year-old mare bouncing straight back to her best.

Perfect Your Craft at 3/1 is the more interesting price. Paul Twomey has a 16% course record at Fairyhouse, and first-time cheekpieces on a filly who went close two runs back and has a win on her card four runs ago is a compelling combination. The 3/1 accounts for the below-par fifth last time, but the headgear switch and a trainer with a solid A/E of 1.54 at this track in a small field suggests she is cherry-picked for this moment.

The outsider worth a small mention is Galileo Dame at 9/1. Joseph Patrick O’Brien’s runner is proven over today’s trip and ground, showed a solid second three runs back, and the expert comment rates her strongly fresh. The price might be slightly generous given the O’Brien yard’s current 14-day form, but the win market looks right to focus on Perfect Your Craft.

Selection: Perfect Your Craft at 3/1 (Boyle Sports/Betfred)

8:00 โ€” Winter Festival Early Bird Tickets Handicap (7f)

Seven runners, so just two places each-way, and the race sets up as a contest between the market leaders. Glory To Be is the 11/8 favourite, quick back within seven days off a runner-up effort, with first-time cheekpieces and the best speed figure in the race at 85. That turnaround suggests a confident yard, and M C Grassick’s runner looks fit and sharp.

However, the value sits with Rahmi at 13/2 (Boyle Sports), trained by J P Murtagh whose 15% course win rate here comes with solid overall numbers. Rahmi tops the field on the expert ratings at 104, carries Ben Coen, and is proven over the trip after a 24-day break. The form has cooled since his win five starts back, but on a ratings basis he has more raw ability than anything else in this field. At more than four times the price of the favourite, the gap feels too wide given he heads the figures.

Bishopton at 11/2 for Miss Natalia Lupini is also worth a note. Her 24% course win rate is the best of any trainer at Fairyhouse on today’s card, a remarkable figure, and Bishopton is proven over the trip and ground. He faded last time but has a win on his recent CV and comes back quickly, suggesting the team is ready to run him into form. At 11/2 with two places in a seven-runner field, the each-way terms are tighter but the trainer angle is hard to ignore.

Selection: Rahmi at 13/2 (Boyle Sports)

Today’s NAP

Jockey silksPerfect Your Craft โ€” Darley Irish EBF Stanerra Stakes (18:50, Fairyhouse)
Odds: 3/1 โ€” Boyle Sports (others: 3/1 Betfred, 3/1 LiveScore Bet)

Paul Twomey’s four-year-old filly goes into this Group 3 with first-time cheekpieces fitted, a near-miss second on her recent CV, and a trainer who hits 16% course wins at Fairyhouse with an A/E of 1.54. The market respects the evens favourite Goodie Two Shoes, but that run eighth last time out on the back of a tongue-tie switch is not the profile of a banker. Perfect Your Craft at three times the price, with headgear going on for the first time and a mile and six on good to firm ground she has handled before, looks like a yard playing their hand at 3/1.
