Ffos Las, 30 June 2026: Tips and Best Bets

A six-race card at Ffos Las this evening, with good to firm ground and showers forecast. The going could ease slightly through the card, which is worth keeping in mind for anything bred to prefer a bit of cut. The stats here are stark: Cieren Fallon wins at 48% at this track with an A/E of 1.98, while William Haggas lands 46% of his runners. When those two combine, you pay attention. England kick off their India Test series tomorrow, but tonight the focus is firmly on West Wales.

6:09 Town And Country Cakes Restricted Novice Stakes

Selection: Mother Dear (9/4, Boyle Sports / LiveScore Bet)

This is a race where the form lines are thin, but Mother Dear has an obvious advantage over the majority of the field: she has won. A three-quarter-length victory at Goodwood last time confirmed she handles good to firm ground, stays a mile-plus, and has the temperament to get the job done. Hughie Morrison has sent out two winners from seven runners in the last 14 days, the yard is firmly firing, and Rob Hornby’s 20% strike rate at Ffos Las with an A/E of 1.27 adds further appeal.

Egyptian Pharaoh is the market rival at 13/8, but first-time tongue-tie is an unknown quantity, and his best effort was a third at Windsor. Celestial Cen showed bags of raw ability on debut at Lingfield, beaten half a length, and at 9/2 she is the danger if Mother Dear fails to settle. Dialstone is interesting on pedigree for Ralph Beckett, but an 8-runner novice is not the place to be throwing money at an unraced debutant when a proper form horse is in the field.

Mother Dear at 9/4 is a fair price in a race she should be winning.

6:39 West Wales Properties Pembrokeshire Maiden Stakes

Selection: Kino Plasmat (5/2, Boyle Sports / Betfred / LiveScore Bet)

Ed Walker has a solid 18% record at Ffos Las, and Cieren Fallon is booked. That combination alone gets your attention on a card like this. Kino Plasmat was fourth on debut at Yarmouth, beaten three lengths on what looked like a standard opening run for the yard, kept well within herself. The step up to a mile here looks ideal for her breeding, and Walker typically improves horses considerably from debut to second start.

Dark Whisper (2/1) and Impierious (9/4) are both consistent placers but that is precisely the concern: both have been placed twice without winning. At some point you need to find the one that breaks through rather than finishes second again. Kino Plasmat, on the back of a considered introductory run, represents that upside. Lean d’Aislingean at 5/1 is worth a second look for each-way purposes given his improved Windsor run.

Fallon at 48% wins at this course is not a stat to ignore when he is riding a horse with a sensible case.

7:09 West Wales Properties Mayfair Classified Stakes

Selection: Prince Ali (7/2, Boyle Sports / Betfred)

Prince Ali won at Chepstow last time by a neck. He comes here as a winner in current form, well suited to seven and a half furlongs, and first-time cheekpieces are now added. The danger with cheekpieces is when a horse is clearly already on the decline and connections are fishing. That is not the picture here. He won without them, so if anything they could sharpen him up further rather than masking a problem.

Spirited Dancer (5/2) is twice a placed runner in recent starts and is the logical market rival, but she is arguably better at shorter and the drop back in trip from one mile could matter. King Of The Dance has Cieren Fallon in the saddle at 7/2, which is a compelling stat at this venue, and he has cheekpieces on for the first time too. He is the main threat.

But Prince Ali arrives as an actual winner, in form, at a track where the cheekpieces application looks calculated rather than desperate. At joint 7/2 with King Of The Dance, he is the value call in a race full of modest handicappers trying to break their ducks.

Today’s NAP

Jockey silksKino Plasmat โ€” West Wales Properties Pembrokeshire Maiden Stakes (6:39, Ffos Las)
Odds: 5/2 โ€” Boyle Sports (others: 5/2 Betfred, 5/2 LiveScore Bet)

Ed Walker is a 18% trainer at Ffos Las and has sent this filly out for a confident introductory run at Yarmouth before targeting a track that suits. The mile distance looks perfectly matched to her breeding, and Cieren Fallon takes the ride. Fallon lands 48% of his mounts at this course with an A/E of 1.98. In a maiden where the two market leaders have both been placed twice without winning, Kino Plasmat has the scope and the booking to go one better on her second career start.
