Goodwood Festival, 30 July 2026: Full Card Tips

Good to firm ground at Glorious Goodwood and a card that ranges from a wide-open sprint handicap to a Group 1 Nassau Stakes. The going suits horses with a turn of foot, and with William Buick and Oisin Murphy both in fine course form, pay attention to who they’re riding in the key races. Eight races, plenty of angles, let’s get into it.

1:50 โ€” Coral Kincsem Heritage Handicap (1m2f, 14 runners)

Selection: Savvy Disko Each-Way at 8/1 (Boyle Sports)

Two wins on the spin is a simple, compelling argument in a 14-runner handicap. Savvy Disko has ticked both boxes at the trip and on this ground, and trainer S Woods carries a 17% strike rate at Goodwood with an A/E of 1.29, which tells you the yard punches above its weight at this track. The 33-day absence is not alarming for a lightly-raced three-year-old, and 129lb, while not trivial, is offset by drawing stall 12 in a race where the pace should be honest throughout.

The real concern is Decade Of Time, who comes here off three productive runs including two wins and a second. But at 11/2 he’s attracting market support that doesn’t leave much room for error. Savvy Disko at 8/1 offers far better value for a horse that has done nothing wrong. Four places at 1/5 odds in a 14-runner field makes each-way a clear play.

Each-Way: 4 places at 1/5 odds.

2:25 โ€” Markel Richmond Stakes, Group 2 (6f, 10 runners)

Selection: Cut A Dash at 9/2 (Boyle Sports/Betfred)

Richard Hannon has sent out nine winners from 49 runners in the last fortnight, and Cut A Dash looks the yard’s strongest hand of the week. Rated 105 on our figures, he’s the top-rated runner in the field, has won at six furlongs on ground like this, and the 44-day break is unlikely to inconvenience a two-year-old Hannon has clearly prepared carefully for a Group 2 target.

Flann Sunna is the jolly at 5/4, but a speed figure of 69 against this company is genuinely hard to reconcile with favouritism. William Buick is a magician at Goodwood, but the Crisford yard’s A/E of 0.96 here hints at a track that doesn’t consistently suit their runners. Cut A Dash is the bet at 9/2, with Adaay of Scarlett worth noting as the each-way backup if you want three-place cover at 8/1.

3:00 โ€” Maison Perrier Gordon Stakes, Group 3 (1m4f, 7 runners)

Selection: Geryon at 4/1 (Boyle Sports/Betfred)

Winner last time out, second three starts back, and the highest-rated horse in the field. Colin Keane carries a 17% strike rate at Goodwood with an A/E of 0.98, and he’s placed on a horse who handles the ground and the trip without reservation. The 132lb burden is the talking point, but in a seven-runner Group 3 it’s not the same obstacle it would be in a wide handicap.

Enceladus is the 7/4 favourite off the back of back-to-back wins, but being ranked sixth of seven in this field on our assessments with a speed figure of 86 makes that price very short indeed. Bay Of Brilliance at 11/4 is a proper each-way alternative with Beckett’s yard in sharp form (7/47), but Geryon at 4/1 is the pick on merit.

3:35 โ€” Qatar Nassau Stakes, Group 1 (1m2f, 5 runners)

Selection: See The Fire at 5/1 (Boyle Sports/Betfred)

Back-to-back wins, proven at the trip, proven on good to firm. Andrew Balding has been operating at a strong clip with seven winners from 37 runners in the last fortnight, and See The Fire profiles as the most straightforward each-way bet in the race at the prices available.

Diamond Necklace at 4/6 is unbeaten in her last five, and Ryan Moore is never a jockey you dismiss lightly. But being ranked last of five in this field on our figures, with a 46-day absence and AP O’Brien’s Goodwood A/E of just 0.88, means the market may be overestimating her. Friendly Soul is respected, but the pull-up two starts back is a flag that’s hard to fully ignore. See The Fire at 5/1 looks the most straightforwardly constructed case in the race.

4:10 โ€” Buccellati Handicap Stakes (5f, 18 runners)

Selection: Shes Got A Brother Each-Way at 8/1 (Boyle Sports/Betfred)

Two wins in her last five starts, a third two runs back, and experience of this trip and ground. An 18-runner five-furlong dash at Goodwood can be chaotic, but Shes Got A Brother has a profile that stands up well relative to the prices on offer. The 40-day break could mean connections have freshened her up deliberately for a race like this, which is a positive spin on what some might read as a concern.

Naana’s Shadow at 11/2 is the more obvious market pick, but a ninth last time out after winning three from six is harder to forgive at that price. K.R. Burke’s Miss Yechance is noted on trainer form (10/33, very strong fortnight) but the seventh last time out is the stumbling block. Five places at 1/5 odds in an 18-runner field is what makes Shes Got A Brother the each-way play of the afternoon at 8/1.

Each-Way: 5 places at 1/5 odds.

4:45 โ€” Whispering Angel Nursery Handicap (7f, 18 runners)

Selection: Everatease Each-Way at 11/1 (Boyle Sports/Betfred)

Back-to-back wins, distance experience, going experience. The 48-day break is the question, but Eve Johnson Houghton has three winners from 31 runners recently and this horse clearly goes well fresh. Shadow King is the market leader and has obvious claims, but a seven-day turnaround means he’s on a very quick return. Everatease at 11/1 is the price play in a wide-open 18-runner nursery where five places are paid at 1/5 odds.

The Bookkeeper at 7/1 is the other horse worth a mention. A winner two runs back, well treated on the figures, and the 55-day absence could mean he returns cherry-ripe. But Everatease’s back-to-back winning form gives him a sharper profile at a bigger price.

Each-Way: 5 places at 1/5 odds.

5:20 โ€” Tatler British EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (7f, 15 runners)

Selection: Elevating at 7/1 (Boyle Sports/Betfred)

In a maiden with several runners making their debut or with minimal form to go on, the second on debut from Richard Hannon’s yard stands out. Hannon is in strong form (nine winners in the last fortnight) and a filly who showed ability first time out at seven furlongs on similar ground is exactly the type the operation targets in races like this. Beguiled under William Buick for the Gosden yard is the horse to beat on reputation and connections, but the Gosden Goodwood A/E of 0.79 is a minor flag. Elevating at 7/1 is the value pick to go with.

Today’s NAP

Jockey silksCut A Dash โ€” Markel Richmond Stakes, Group 2 (2:25, Goodwood)
Odds: 9/2 โ€” Boyle Sports (others: 9/2 Betfred, 4/1 LiveScore Bet)

The top-rated runner in a Group 2, trained by a yard that has fired out nine winners in the past fortnight, at a price that leaves Flann Sunna looking badly overbet at 5/4. Cut A Dash is proven at the trip and the going, and a 44-day break for a two-year-old being specifically aimed at this race is a positive, not a negative. Richard Hannon targets races like this all summer long, and at 9/2 the value is right there.
