Hove Greyhound Tips – Thursday 18 June 2026
Hove’s fast sand surface and tight bends demand sharp racecraft and early pace. Thursday’s twelve-race card runs from 18:08 to 21:16, with feature races spanning sprint, standard, and staying distances.
18:08 – Grade A4 500m
| Trap | Dog | Age | Trainer | Last 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bluestar Boss | 3y D | T Taylor | 262 |
| 2 | Roanna Zara | 4y B | B Green | 331 |
| 3 | Bruce The Boss | 3y D | T Taylor | 424 |
| 4 | Whizzy Bloos | 1y D | P J Browne | No form |
| 6 | Mustang Maverick | 2y D | S Cahill | No form |
Bluestar Boss has found excellent form at A3 level recently, posting a win on 15 May off the back of back-to-back placed finishes. The colt’s last three runs show strong consistency: 2nd by 1.5 lengths (7 June, carded and led early), 2nd by 1 length (21 May, released and ran on into the quarter), and a decisive 1-length win (15 May, released, crowded and led from quarter onwards). Tonight’s drop to A4 suits, and from Trap 1 at Hove, Bluestar Boss should secure a clean break into the rails. Trainer T Taylor’s recent record with this dog is solid.
NAP: Bluestar Boss, Trap 1.
18:26 – Grade A3 500m
| Trap | Dog | Age | Trainer | Last 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Amazing Force | 3y D | R Holloway | -154 |
| 2 | Sporting Pegasus | 4y D | S Cahill | 132 |
| 3 | Cloheena Del Boy | 2y D | S Cahill | 251 |
| 4 | Razor Gun | 3y D | P J Browne | No form |
| 6 | Amys Onthe Run | 3y B | T Taylor | No form |
Sporting Pegasus has won his last outing (7 June, Trap 1, A4 500m) by a single length after showing slow away, release, crowding at one, and leading from three. The four-year-old’s consistency is undeniable: second at A4 (29 May), second at A4 (20 May), and third at A4 (16 May). He’s proven at Hove over 500m and ready for A3 company. Trap 2 puts him in a favourable position on Hove’s tight circuit, allowing him to avoid early traffic into the bend while maintaining his trademark middle-to-lead style. S Cahill’s charge is a banker for the forecast.
NAP: Sporting Pegasus, Trap 2.
18:42 – Grade OR 285m
| Trap | Dog | Age | Trainer | Last 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Salthill Joker | 3y D | R Peckover | 621 |
| 3 | Bound By Belief | 2y D | S Cahill | 453 |
| 4 | Guzzler | 4y D | B Green | 113 |
| 5 | King Presley | 3y D | R Holloway | No form |
| 6 | Venetian Mario | 1y D | J Campbell | No form |
Sprint racing at Hove heavily favours wide trappers, and Guzzler’s recent form at 285m is outstanding. The four-year-old won twice in four races: a neck victory on 14 June (Trap 5, D1 285m), and a 2-length win on 21 May (Trap 6, OR 285m). Both wins show the dog’s explosive early pace and ability to lead from flag-fall. Guzzler’s runs at this distance are consistent and sharp; his Trap 4 draw tonight is slightly tighter than his recent winning trips but still wide enough to avoid congestion. B Green trains a dog in peak form, and at 285m Guzzler’s speed will carry him home. Look for forecast value pairing Guzzler with Bound By Belief, who showed a narrow 3-quarter-length third on 21 May at this exact race type.
NAP: Guzzler, Trap 4.
18:59 – Grade OR 695m
| Trap | Dog | Age | Trainer | Last 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ivy Hill Cherry | 4y B | S Cahill | 332 |
| 2 | Art Riddler | 3y D | S Cahill | 516 |
| 3 | Minstrels Six | 4y B | J Heath | 453 |
| 4 | Swift Jarvis | 3y D | B Green | No form |
| 5 | Broncos Bullet | 3y D | B Green | No form |
Minstrels Six won over 695m at Hove on 21 May (Trap 2, OR grade), holding on by 1.5 lengths after releasing from rails, running on, and leading at four. The four-year-old bitch is proven at this longer trip and knows the track well. Her form at 695m is selective but potent: wins and places at this distance show stamina, and her recent A3 500m run (13 June, fourth by 2.25 lengths, released and ran on) proves sharpness. J Heath trains a dog with the resilience to handle staying company. Trap 3 puts Minstrels Six in a balanced position for the long run, and her release-and-run style suits the 695m track.
NAP: Minstrels Six, Trap 3.
Meeting Overview
Thursday’s card spans A4 through OR grades, with mixed distances from sprint (285m) to staying (695m). The 500m races dominate the early card, giving punters a steady run of competitive A3 and A4 clashes before the specialist trip races. Sand surface and tight bends mean early pace and tactical racecraft will separate winners from also-rans.
Punters’ Note
Check starting prices 20 minutes before race time; Hove’s market often tightens late as sharp money flows. Betfair and Bet365 offer the best greyhound odds and liquidity. Forecast and reverse forecast markets are excellent value on 285m and 695m races, where trap bias and distance suitability create standout pairings. Avoid chasing tight odds on early-race A4 clashes; the best value appears in the staying and sprint contests after 18:40.
