Kempton (AW) Tips — Monday 30th March 2026

Standard to slow on the Polytrack at Kempton — not lightning quick, but not a bog either. It's a seven-race Monday card dominated by fillies' races and 3yo handicaps, which means the form book is thin and trainer intent matters enormously. Three races stand out for punting purposes, and there's a cracking each-way angle in the feature maiden.

2:10 — Virgin Bet Fillies' Novice Stakes (6f)

Selection: Barefoot Beach (Sean Levey / Richard Hannon)

This is the standout bet of the card. Barefoot Beach won this exact course and distance on debut last September, doing so at 25-1 and winning by three lengths — a performance that looked well above a typical maiden. She's been off the track since, but Hannon's yard is ticking along at a 4/25 strike rate over the last fortnight, and Levey keeping the ride is a strong retention signal. Yes, she carries a 7lb penalty, but look at who she's taking it to. Minnie Idol has shown she's a handful to settle and that's cost her twice already. Mehmas Engine went odds-on at Southwell over 5f and could only manage third — she's stepping up to 6f, which may help, but she's not proven at this trip. Sizzling Seixas showed promise at Wolverhampton but is untried here.

Course and distance winner returning fit from a winter break — in a race this thin, that's an enormous edge. She's likely to go off favourite, so not an each-way play, but back her to win.

2:40 — Virgin Bet Interactive Handicap (6f)

Selection: Orange Emperor (Daniel Muscutt / James Fanshawe)

Fanshawe's yard is the one that jumps off the page here — 5 winners from 18 runners in the last 14 days is a yard that's firing, and they don't run horses without a plan. Orange Emperor is making his handicap debut having been gelded over the winter, and his best run came on his debut at Goodwood over 6f, suggesting the ability is there. He's been given time, he's been given a gelding operation, and Fanshawe is clearly thinking he's a different horse this spring. The spotlight note about watching the market is astute — if this one drifts, take the hint, but if it firms up, pile in.

Southern Warrior is the obvious danger — he won at Newcastle last week, but he arguably did so thanks to the stands' rail bias there, and while a 3lb rise is lenient, the confidence has to be tempered. Orange Emperor each-way at likely double-figure prices looks the play in a race where Fanshawe's runners fresh from a gelding op frequently hit the ground running.

3:40 — Virgin Bet Maiden Fillies' Stakes (1m3f)

Selection: Semper Femina (Alec Voikhansky / Richard Hannon)

This maiden is a messy affair with limited exposed form, and the non-runner Aukus would have been a strong contender for a Ralph Beckett yard operating. With her out, the race opens up nicely for a debut runner with a proper pedigree.

Semper Femina is a half-sister to five winners including Listed-placed Taamol and Queen of Seduction who stayed 1m4f — this trip at Kempton looks tailored for her. Hannon's yard is active and at a 4/25 rate there's clear intent behind their runners right now. At a mile and three furlongs on Polytrack on debut, pedigree and stable form are often your best guide, and both point here. Calypso Bloom is a 125-1 shot on form, Six Blue is tailed off in bumpers, and Semele needs to find improvement to beat Galaxy Star who already had her measure in bumpers.

Semper Femina is a speculative each-way play in what is a genuine maiden in the truest sense — she could go off at double-figure odds against a field that is, frankly, unimpressive. Back her each-way and hope Hannon has sent her fit first time up.

A course and distance winner returning from a winter break, she put up a striking debut performance at 25-1 last September, winning by three lengths over this exact 6f Polytrack trip. Sean Levey retains the ride which screams confidence from the Hannon yard, who are in decent nick at 4/25 over the last fortnight. The penalty is manageable against a field that hasn't convinced in their own outings — this filly simply has more form in the book than anything here.
