Kempton (AW) Tips: Monday 29 June 2026
A seven-race evening card at Kempton on standard to slow Polytrack, with a handicap double and a split novice stakes headlining the programme. The going is playing towards horses proven on the artificial surface, and trainer form over the past fortnight is worth weighing carefully. Three races stand out for value, and one selection has the look of a banker.
5:45 โ Unibet/EBF Restricted Novice Stakes Div 1 (7f)
Selection: Abrahamsen at 3/1 (BoyleSports, Betfred, LiveScore Bet)
The form angle here centres on race experience versus potential. Abrahamsen got the job done on debut at Leicester, albeit green under pressure, and that greenness is precisely what suggests a step forward is coming. The winner who beat him that day has not been disgraced since, lending the form some solidity. Three-quarters of a length on debut as a horse still learning his job is a strong foundation.
The chief rival in the market is Extended Order, who won at Brighton and now runs under a penalty. Brighton form can be tricky to transport, and the Kempton Polytrack is a very different test. Duke Of Burgundy is interesting on his Leicester debut run where he finished with clear purpose, and should not be dismissed at 9/2 for Richard Hannon.
Archie Watson’s 14-day stats are the one reservation on Abrahamsen, sitting at just 1/31, but at 3/1 with a meaningful experience edge and genuine scope to improve, he rates the pick. The Polytrack suits horses who travel smoothly through their races, and the step forward from debut should deliver here.

Selection: I’m Workin On It Each-Way at 4/1 (BoyleSports, Betfred)
Fourteen runners, a mile on Polytrack, and the form angle is compelling. I’m Workin On It has been meaningfully better on the all-weather than on turf throughout his career, and his turf run last time, where he was well beaten in higher grade, should be mentally filed under “surface mismatch” rather than form collapse. He won here three starts back off a mark 5lb higher than what he lines up on today, and that is a significant line to draw through this race.
First-time cheekpieces add another dimension. Pierre-Louis Jamin takes the ride and the switch back to a surface where this horse is proven gives him a clear edge over several rivals who are either out of current form or drawn wide in stalls 13 and 14 (Arctic Thunder and Saytarr both face that complication).
Farasi Lane is the one to respect most at 8/1, back up to a mile on his preferred surface after finding a shorter trip insufficient last time. Chalk Mountain returned to winning ways here two starts back and warrants a mention. But I’m Workin On It, with the surface switch, the headgear, and a mark 5lb lower than his winning effort here, is the most attractive betting proposition in the race. Four places at 1/5 odds gives this each-way credentials at the current price.
8:15 โ Kempton Park Supporting Racing Staff Week Handicap (1m3f, 12 runners)
Selection: Charmaine at 9/2 (BoyleSports, Betfred)
James Fanshawe posts a 17% strike rate at Kempton on the all-weather (181 wins from 1,060 runs), and Charmaine represents exactly the type of consistent, well-placed mare his yard does well with. She tops the figures in this field by a clear margin according to the expert analysis, runs to her level consistently, and suits this trip on any surface.
Her Goodwood run was on turf and still yielded a fourth, performing as expected. Back on Polytrack now, the surface switch is a positive. Daniel Muscutt keeps the ride and there are no headgear changes to worry about. Fox Avatar at 11/4 is the obvious market rival having won twice in his last five starts, but he is coming back from a break and the comment flags that as a first run back, with improvement expected rather than guaranteed. Charmaine’s consistency makes her the more reliable selection at a better price.
Naval Command at 13/2 is worth a mention, with blinkers having animated him at Chester and tongue-tie added today, but the trip may be stretching him. Charmaine looks a clear value play at 9/2 in a 12-runner handicap.
Today’s NAP
Odds: 4/1 โ BoyleSports (others: 4/1 Betfred, 9/2 LiveScore Bet)
The combination of a return to the all-weather surface he handles best, a handicap mark 5lb lower than his winning effort at this exact track, and first-time cheekpieces applied to sharpen him up makes this a genuine each-way banker in a 14-runner handicap. The turf run last time was on a different surface at a higher grade and tells you nothing about his current level on Polytrack. This is a horse set up to bounce back tonight.
