He had a sharpener on the Flat last month, he knows how to finish, and the 21-runner field is big but the 2m trip on good ground plays to his strengths. The main concern is that he still finds a way to lose, but in this company, the experience edge is enormous. At 11/10 you are not getting rich, but you are backing a very likely winner.

Euro Agent at 9/1 (Boyle Sports, Betfred) is Gordon Elliott’s runner under Danny Gilligan, whose 1.34 A/E here is hard to ignore. The Spotlight flags him as not straightforward after running out before the last on his hurdles debut, but the form before that showed mild promise in bumpers and his stable debut at Tramore was a modest fifth rather than a disaster. At 9/1 with Gilligan up, the market may take him shorter on the day, but the overall profile has too many red flags to trust as a primary selection.

5:15 Great National South Court Hotel Mares Maiden Hurdle (2m4f, Good)

Carleys Lilly Each-Way at 10/1 (Boyle Sports) is the each-way play in this 16-runner mares maiden. The debut run at Clonmel a fortnight ago was outstanding in context: fourth of 18, never-nearer finish, and the Spotlight explicitly flags that she was looking in need of the step up to 2m4f. She gets that trip here. The Blue Bresil breeding screams stamina, and mares that finish like she did on debut over the shorter trip invariably improve significantly when the trip comes. Josh Williamson rides, and his 18% strike rate at Limerick with an A/E above 1.0 makes this combination genuinely appealing at double-figure odds in a 16-runner field.

Aruntothequeen at 2/1 (Boyle Sports, LiveScore Bet) is the obvious market leader. Listed bumper winner, decent hurdling form, and her Punchestown run behind Switch From Diesel came off a big weight concession. Jessica Harrington’s yard is at 3/30 recently which is not a yard in top gear, and 2/1 feels skinny for a mare who has been found wanting in handicaps. She is a place banker at best if you are dutching the race.

Ardeen Joy at 14/1 (Boyle Sports, Betfred, LiveScore Bet) is worth noting. The Cork run where she finished remote third at 125/1 was a genuine eyecatcher, Sam Ewing takes over and Elliott runners at Limerick at 15% deserve respect. She goes on the shortlist as a saver.

Minella Diamond at 9/4 (Boyle Sports, Betfred, LiveScore Bet) makes plenty of sense on handicap debut. He finally got his head in front at Clonmel last time, winning a maiden at the eighth attempt over hurdles, and the mark he carries here could be workable given that maiden win came in good style. The 2m4f trip suits, Danny Mullins rides, and a horse with a maiden win banked is a different proposition from one still searching for a first victory. W J Lanigan is 1/3 in the last fortnight and clearly has at least one horse ready to run well.

Another Glendaars Each-Way at 7/1 (Boyle Sports, Betfred, LiveScore Bet) is the value angle here. Trained by C Byrnes, who runs at 15% at Limerick with an A/E of 0.90 at this track. This horse drops in at the bottom of the weights with Philip Byrnes aboard, and the Spotlight suggests a market check is worth doing on his first start for the new yard. A horse moving to a trainer with a genuine local record at a healthy price in a 10-runner handicap is exactly the each-way profile that can catch the market cold. Monitor the boards before the off.
