Limerick, Wednesday 10 June 2026

Light rain falling on good to yielding ground at Limerick sets up a testing afternoon for the flat horses. The going will reward those that stay on strongly and punish anything that needs top-of-the-ground pace. Three races stand out for punting purposes, and Dylan Browne McMonagle’s eye-catching 25% strike rate at this track, with an A/E of 1.35, makes his mounts worth following closely all afternoon.

5:13 โ€” Conference and Banqueting Facilities @ Limerick Handicap (1m4f)

Nineteen runners, five places, and a genuine puzzle of a race. Half the field have stamina questions, which makes the few who look certain to stay the trip valuable commodities.

Kirkland Sioux Each-Way is the selection at 5/1 with Boyle Sports. Joseph Patrick O’Brien sends her here off the back of three maidens over shorter, and at first glance that reads as uninspiring. Look closer and the angle is obvious: this is a massive trip hike that suits, the dam won over this exact distance, and McMonagle takes the ride. That last point is critical at Limerick. He wins 25% of his races at this track and punters who have followed him blindly here have shown a level-stakes profit. O’Brien’s yard has been ticking over at 7 from 61 in the last 14 days, which is a steady enough clip, and the trainer’s Limerick course form (17% wins) is solid. The 1m4f trip on good to yielding ground asks exactly the right question of a filly whose dam answered it. Five places in a 19-runner field means there is plenty of cushion each-way.

Others to note: Delusional ran a genuine race at Killarney over 1m3f when third to Femme Beauty in first-time visor, and that form marker has substance. He gets a mention if you want a saver, though the trainer yard is not firing.

5:50 โ€” Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (1m)

Fourteen runners for the mile maiden, and the race looks to have a clear standout once you strip away the make-weights and the hopeless cases.

I Carry You Home is the selection at 11/4 with Boyle Sports, available at 5/2 with LiveScore Bet. The Too Darn Hot colt cost 70,000 guineas as a yearling and comes from a family that knows how to win: half-brother to Law Power and Perfect Clarity, both Listed performers, out of a dam who was Listed placed over seven furlongs as a two-year-old and stayed a mile and two furlongs. He ran once last year and was beaten, but the pedigree screams improvement when the trip is right and the ground is testing. The key piece of intel here is that McMonagle takes the ride from O’Brien’s yard trio. He is described explicitly as the stable jockey’s pick. When a rider of McMonagle’s Limerick calibre opts for a horse over stablemates in a yard with multiple runners, you follow without argument.

This is a 14-runner maiden so each-way terms apply, but at under 3/1 the win bet is the play here rather than splitting stakes each-way.

6:20 โ€” Jim Ryan Racecourse Services Memorial Handicap (1m)

Ten runners, three places, and a race that rewards digging into the form properly rather than following the market.

Fast Tara at 5/1 with Boyle Sports and Betfred, or 9/2 with LiveScore Bet, is the value call. The six-year-old mare ran a career-best quality race in a 1m Listed event at Navan on Sunday, which on the surface looks bad, but before that she posted a close-up third of 16 over course and distance at Limerick, and a third of 13 at Naas. She is a mare who runs her race consistently in flat handicap company and her form figures of 9-6339 tell a story of a horse who keeps placing without winning. Today the concern is the modest win rate, but in a handicap of this quality dropping back from Listed company is a positive, not a negative. Paul Flynn’s yard has been active at 2 from 17 recently and the apprentice claim from Adam Grant (7lb) reduces her weight to a competitive level.

Noli Timere at 8/1 deserves a second look too. Won twice over this trip last August, has been running in Listed company since, which explains the quiet recent form, and sights are now sensibly lowered. If M D O’Callaghan has her straight for this, the return to this trip and grade could be enough.

Royal Saxo is an interesting French import for Tony Martin but the form from France was primarily over further on all-weather, and this may need more of a getting-to-know-you run first.

Today’s NAP

Jockey silksI Carry You Home โ€” Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (17:50, Limerick)
Odds: 5/2 โ€” LiveScore Bet (others: 11/4 Boyle Sports, SP Betfred)

McMonagle’s personal pick from the O’Brien trio in a 14-runner maiden, and that counts for a great deal at a track where he converts at 25%. The Too Darn Hot colt has the pedigree to relish good to yielding ground over a mile and a half-sibling to two Listed winners suggests the talent is in there waiting to come out. At 5/2 on a first-time win, this represents fair value for a horse who should be shorter once he gets his head in front.
