Light rain at Limerick overnight has kept the ground honest at Good To Yielding, which suits galloping types over the longer trips and gives a slight edge to horses proven on cut. Three races stand out on this eight-race card and we have a strong each-way angle in the feature Listed event, a value play in the sprint handicap, and a clear NAP in the fillies mile.

That alone sharpens the pencil, and Arouet is the trainer’s representative here. The four-year-old colt ran a sequence of 2-1-2-3, consistently competitive at this level before his latest outing. He drops into a Listed race that looks genuinely open, and the Good to Yielding ground on a 1m4½f test is exactly the kind of stamina examination that suits a colt built for middle distances.

Happy Pharoah is the market mover at 7/2 to 4/1 and deserves respect under Paddy Harnett, but Donnacha O’Brien’s yard has sent out just one winner from 12 runners in the last fortnight and that gives pause. At more than double the price, Arouet with Twomey’s course record behind him is the value play. Three places at 1/5 odds makes this a compelling each-way bet.

Layfayette at 12/1 is worth a small saver if you want a secondary each-way ticket. The nine-year-old ran 1-6-2 in recent starts and Adam Caffrey knows what he is doing over this sort of trip.

Mrs John Harrington’s yard has been in cracking form, sending out six winners from 34 runners in the last 14 days. That is a 18% strike rate with real momentum behind it, and Fortuity is the booking that catches the eye. The three-year-old filly showed a 9-9-0-2-1 arc to her form, suggesting she was finding her feet before breaking through and landing her latest start. She steps into a 10-runner handicap off what looks a workable mark, and the Good to Yielding ground over seven furlongs is no issue.

Zenfoot is odds-on favourite territory at 6/4 to 13/8 and keeps running into the places without winning. Three seconds and a third from her last four is honest but uninspiring at that price. Fortuity at twice the price from a yard in serious form is the play.

Watch Tower at 9/2 under James Ryan from the Lyons yard, who have had three winners from 14 runners recently, is the main danger. If the market shortens him further before the off, he may represent value in the place terms, but Fortuity is the one to beat.

5:50 — Ballyduane Stud Fillies Handicap (1m)

Adrian McGuinness has saddled three winners from 28 runners in the last fortnight and runs two fillies in this race. Una Matata at 6/1 is the stronger angle of the two. The five-year-old mare posted a 7-7-1-6-3-5 sequence and that sixth-place finish last time may be misleading in terms of where she sits on the handicap. The one-mile trip on Good to Yielding ground suits a mare with stamina in her profile.

Spanish Temptress heads the market at 10/3, carrying top weight off a recent 6-3-2-0-2-4 run, and while she has placed form in recent starts she remains winless in her last six. At that price, there is no value.

Amemri at 5/1 to 11/2 from David Marnane’s yard showed a 7-0-1-5-2-0 recent line and has a win in recent form. She is the main rival, but Una Matata each-way offers the better return with three places paid at 1/5 odds in an eight-runner field.
