The market alternative worth noting is Unterberg at 6/1 (Coral). Laura Hourigan is 1 from 1 in the last 14 days and the 7-5-1-1-1 recent sequence is eyecatching. But Rory Mulligan's 5lb claim does not offset the fact he carries top weight, and the horse has been progressive on a sharp upward curve. He may be vulnerable if the handicapper has him now.

Richard Hannon sends two runners into this mile handicap and his yard has been in good form with 4 winners from 25 runners in the last 14 days. Both are respected, but one stands out clearly.

Selection: Talis Evolvere at 6/1 (Bet365)

The form reads 5-1252 and that tells a clear story: this horse wins and places at a high rate on its recent outings. Three consecutive placed efforts bookending a win represents exactly the kind of consistent performer you want to support at a fair price in a competitive handicap. Joe Leavy takes the ride, Sean Levey rides the stablemate Angel Hunter, and it is telling that Hannon fields both but Talis Evolvere has the sharper recent form profile. An RPR of 100 against the 11/2 available at Coral and Betfred makes this excellent value. The mile on Lingfield's Polytrack suits a horse who has shown he can quicken and hold a position.
