Lingfield (AW) Tips: Tuesday 14 April 2026

A seven-race card at Lingfield on standard Polytrack, and while the fields are modest, there are three races worth your attention. The feature handicap over a mile is the most competitive heat, with a dozen runners and a couple of genuinely live contenders. Let's get into it.

4:25 โ€” Sky Sports Racing Novice Stakes (1m4f)

Four runners, but the form picture is reasonably clear. Prizeland (8/11 William Hill, Coral, Betfred) is the Andrew Balding-trained Oaks entry who has already shown she can win at this level. A debut fourth at Leicester that caught the eye was followed by a straightforward victory in a fillies' novice at Kempton, and Balding's yard is in excellent nick with seven winners from 35 runners in the last fortnight. David Probert takes the ride, the step up to a mile and a half suits her pedigree, and she's clearly ahead of these on ratings with an RPR of 77 versus Keep It Cool's 71 and Star Artist's 65.

Keep It Cool at 3/1 with William Hill ran respectably last time, beating Star Artist again, but she's meeting a different class of rival here. At odds-on, Prizeland isn't a betting race as such, but if you're filling your card for a Lucky 15, she's as solid as anything on offer today.

Selection: Prizeland โ€” 8/11 William Hill, Coral, Betfred

5:30 โ€” Restricted Maiden Fillies' Stakes (6f)

Lara Antipova (evens Bet365, 10/11 Coral) is the standout on form. Tom Clover has been in decent shape with a winner from five runners in the last 14 days, and this filly has posted the best figures in the field on both her starts. She was a clear-cut second over 5.5 furlongs on turf last summer, then returned from a winter break to run second again on Tapeta at Chelmsford in February, behind a stablemate of Lahan Kingman. Jack Mitchell takes the ride, and the form she's working off looks comfortably superior to anything else in here.

Lahan Kingman at 5/2 won that Chelmsford contest Lara Antipova was placed in, so Richard Hughes's filly deserves respect, but Lara Antipova has the better overall profile and the market agrees. With only five runners and a short-priced favourite, this isn't an each-way race, but at around evens, Lara Antipova represents a confident win bet.

6:30 โ€” Follow @attheraces On Instagram Handicap (1m, 12 runners)

The most interesting race on the card, and the one where a bit of lateral thinking pays off. Twelve runners over a mile on Polytrack, four places at 1/5 odds, and a field full of exposed handicappers with a few interesting angles buried in the form.

Mr Baloo Each-Way (5/1 Bet365, 9/2 William Hill) makes obvious appeal. Richard Hannon's five-year-old won three times last March, including off a mark 8lb higher than tonight's, and he was second to Helm Rock just eight days ago at Kempton. Crucially, he meets that rival on 4lb better terms tonight, and he goes in first-time cheekpieces, which Hannon uses judiciously. The yard has four winners from 33 runners in the past fortnight, which is ticking over at a workable strike rate, and Joe Leavy takes the ride. At 5/1 for a horse with a proven spring pattern, a recent placed run, and cheekpieces going on, this is a fair-value each-way play.

Helm Rock (9/2 Bet365, 4/1 William Hill) is the one to beat, and Kubler's yard is firing at a 42% strike rate in the last 14 days, which is remarkable. He carries a 4lb penalty for his Kempton win, and he hasn't been at his best at Lingfield previously. Worth respecting, but the penalty and course form queries slightly blunt his appeal at a price that's a touch short given those factors.

Bravo Zulu at 12/1 Bet365 is a longer price to consider each-way. Two wins from four starts over course and distance is a compelling angle, and the form analyst rightly notes his latest effort should be overlooked entirely given he reared as the stalls opened. Back on a workable mark and drawn wide in stall 11 with Muscutt aboard, he's adaptable regarding tactics. A bit of insurance at 12/1 makes some sense.

Selection: Mr Baloo Each-Way โ€” 5/1 Bet365 (each-way: 4 places at 1/5 odds)

Today's NAP

Prizeland โ€” Sky Sports Racing Novice Stakes (4:25 Lingfield)
Odds: 8/11 โ€” William Hill (others: 8/11 Coral, 8/11 Betfred)

Andrew Balding's Oaks entry is streets ahead of this field on ratings and form, having already won a novice at Kempton after an eye-catching debut. The yard is in prime form, David Probert is in the saddle, and the stamina-laden pedigree suits the step up to a mile and a half on Polytrack. Even at odds-on, she's a confident NAP on a card where short-priced bankers don't come much cleaner than this.
