Lingfield (AW) Tips: Monday 13 July 2026

A Monday evening card at Lingfield on standard Polytrack, and while the programme won’t be troubling the front page of the Racing Post, there are three races worth getting stuck into. The card spans juveniles finding their feet in a maiden and nursery through to a staying handicap where the market needs reading carefully. With the MLB All-Star Game kicking off in Atlanta tomorrow, it’s a good night to settle in front of the racing.

Jack Callan has an excellent course record here, striking at 18% with a positive A/E of 1.36, making him one to follow whenever he turns up at this track. Marco Ghiani and Billy Loughnane are also live threats whenever they appear on the Lingfield all-weather, though their A/E figures suggest the market doesn’t always underprice them.

6:10 โ€” EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes (7f, 2yo)

Twelve runners, most with limited or no form to go on, and the market makes Ardad Steve a 9/4 favourite. That’s not terrible but it’s also not a price that excites given the horse has run twice and posted a four and a six. There’s a more interesting angle.

Cracking Idea Each-Way is the selection at 10/1 with Betfred. Ed Dunlop is running hot right now, sending out winners at a 5/17 clip over the last fortnight, and Billy Loughnane knows his way around Lingfield at 15% strike rate. Cracking Idea is a debutant so there’s nothing to go on publicly, but Dunlop doesn’t aim juveniles at Lingfield maidens without believing they’re ready. In a race with 12 runners and three places paid at 1/5 odds, the each-way case at 10/1 is real.

Nakila Sun at 11/1 is another to keep onside. Andrew Balding has the strongest overall record at this course among the trainers represented, and a sixth on debut leaves room for the usual second-run improvement. But Cracking Idea gets the nod based on a yard in form.

5:10 โ€” Download The At The Races App Nursery (7f, 2yo)

Only five runners, so forget the each-way angle and concentrate on finding the winner. The comment data here is useful and points firmly in one direction.

King of Montenegro at 13/2 with Boyle Sports is the value play. He tops the ratings for this field, sitting some way clear of his official mark, and his last run was a second-place finish. The concern cited is a 51-day break, which is noted, but Brian Meehan doesn’t fire horses cold without them being ready. Jack Callan takes the ride, and his Lingfield A/E of 1.36 is the best of any jockey on tonight’s card. That combination is too good to ignore at the price.

Crazy Cubana is the market leader at 5/4 and the data supports her having the best overall profile, but 5/4 in a five-runner nursery asks you to take a very short price about a horse who was below her winning level last time. King of Montenegro at more than four times the odds, topping the ratings, represents the sharper play.

5:40 โ€” attheraces.com Handicap (1m5f)

Ten runners, a mile and five furlongs, and one horse catches the eye immediately in the data.

Expressionless Each-Way at 6/1 with Boyle Sports or Betfred. Dylan Cunha is operating at 17% at Lingfield with an A/E of 1.44, the most profitable of any trainer at this course, and he’s sent out three winners in the last fortnight. Kieran Shoemark takes the ride. Expressionless has both today’s distance and going in the book, and rates second in this field while sitting well clear of his official mark. His recent form has dipped, yes, but a horse rated well above his handicap mark with the proven course and distance credentials, trained by a yard that punches above its weight at this particular track, is exactly the kind of angle worth exploiting at 6/1 each-way in a ten-runner handicap.

The one other flag worth raising is Love Is Golden at 80/1. A horse rated 18lb clear of his official mark in the comments is extraordinary, though the slashed-in-the-form figure and an eight-year-old without a recent run suggests the ratings gap may reflect historic ability rather than current form. At those odds, a small each-way flutter isn’t absurd, but Expressionless is the considered selection.

Today’s NAP

Jockey silksKing of Montenegro โ€” Download The At The Races App Nursery (5:10, Lingfield AW)
Odds: 13/2 โ€” Boyle Sports (others: 7/1 Betfred, 6/1 LiveScore Bet)

Tops the ratings for this nursery by a clear margin, sitting well above his official mark, and his latest run was a placed effort that reads better than anything else in this five-runner field. Meehan sends him out with Jack Callan in the saddle, a jockey recording an A/E of 1.36 at Lingfield, the best figure on the card tonight. In a race where the favourite is odds-on about a horse who underperformed last time out, 13/2 about the top-rated runner represents genuine value.
