A six-race evening card at Lingfield on standard Polytrack. Nothing here to set pulses racing like the York Ebor Festival in ten days’ time, but there are some workable angles on this card if you know where to look. Charles Hills has a solid 15% strike rate at this track, Archie Watson hits 19%, and Harry Davies is a jockey worth following around here at 15% with a positive A/E of 1.07. Three races stand out as genuinely priceable.

Sir Mark Prescott is firing at 7/26 over the last fortnight, and his filly Sunlit Sea comes here with back-to-back wins already banked. Yes, she ranks bottom on the ratings figures, and yes, the 130lb burden looks stiff for a three-year-old in a five-furlong dash. But Prescott does not send horses out unless he believes they are ready, and that recent 27% strike rate from his yard tells you everything about the current state of his operation. She has the trip and going experience ticked off. At 15/8 (BoyleSports, Betfred, 7/4 LiveScore Bet), she is the value play at the head of the market here.

7:10 Calabash Cove EBF Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes (1m, Standard)

With Norfolk Dream a non-runner, this comes down to six. Kanzi is priced up at 4/5 favourite, and rightly so. Charlie Johnston’s filly ran second on debut, which is a perfectly acceptable starting point for a horse stepping up to a mile on the all-weather. Johnston’s yard has five winners from 44 runners over the past fortnight, a solid enough clip at this level. The concern is the short price, but in a field this thin, the market is probably right.

The alternative angle worth flagging is Ozone Friendly at 11/4 (BoyleSports/Betfred), trained by James Owen, who has been absolutely motoring lately at 13/64 over the past two weeks. That is a 20% strike rate and Harry Davies takes the ride, a jockey running at 15% here with a positive A/E. No public form shown for Ozone Friendly, but the stable and jockey combination on an unexposed two-year-old in a restricted novice is exactly the kind of angle you back blind at 11/4. Good each-way terms with 2 places on offer in a race of this nature.

7:40 Hewanorra Handicap Stakes (7f, Standard)

Rogue Supremacy Each-Way tops the ratings figures at a mark of 94, which counts for something in a seven-runner handicap. Archie Watson’s gelding has distance and going experience sorted, arrives 25 days fresh, and Watson’s yard runs at 19% at this track with an A/E of 1.04. The winless run of six starts is the obvious concern, but a third six starts back shows he can perform at this level. The 13/2 price (BoyleSports/Betfred) reflects that winless sequence rather than true ability, and with only a 135lb carry from stall three, conditions suit.

The other runner worth a second look is Arantes Nascimento at 7/2 (BoyleSports/Betfred, 10/3 LiveScore Bet). Two placed efforts before the latest start, distance and going experience in place, and 28 days between runs suggests the trainer is looking for a bounce-back here. At 7/2 though, Rogue Supremacy at 13/2 offers sharper value for the each-way punter.
