Lingfield (AW) Tips: Tuesday 18 August 2026

The York Ebor Festival is where the big money is flying today, but Lingfield’s all-weather card offers its own angles for those who know where to look. Standard going on the Polytrack suits horses with proven AW form, and with eight races on the card, there are several spots where the market has either overreacted or nodded off entirely. Three races stand out for value. Here are the selections.

3:00 โ€” Sky Sports Racing EBF Restricted Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (6f, Standard)

Two-year-old fillies, no ratings to lean on, and a field where most have either flopped or are making their debut. This is exactly where trainer momentum and shrewd handling matter most.

Selection: Last Dandelion Each-Way at 8/1 (Boyle Sports / Betfred)

Marco Ghiani takes the ride, and his 16% strike rate at Lingfield AW is worth noting, particularly in a field where plenty of the market principals are unproven. Stuart Williams has been busy recently with four winners from thirty runners over the last fortnight, and his 15% course win rate here is built on genuine track knowledge rather than fluke. Last Dandelion’s form figures of 053045 show a consistent knack for getting into the places without converting. On a circuit that rewards tactical racing and jockeys who know the track, the combination of Ghiani and Williams gives this filly a legitimate edge at 8/1 in a ten-runner field paying three places.

Enriched (4/1, Boyle Sports) is a fair favourite on trainer Tom Clover’s yard being in form at 5 from 17 over fourteen days, but at half the price the each-way case evaporates. Past Passion (11/2) is another option with four attempts to her name including a placed run, but the Portman yard is winless from nine in the past fortnight. Last Dandelion at 8/1 each-way is the play.

5:52 โ€” At The Races App Handicap Stakes Div I (6f, Standard)

Ten runners, six furlongs, all-weather specialists. The form comment data is unambiguous here, and the market has landed on the right horse.

Selection: Happier at 9/4 (Boyle Sports / Betfred)

Two wins on the bounce, proven over today’s trip and going, rated top of these by the assessors, and trainer Martin Keighley is in red-hot form at 1 from 2 in the past fortnight. Yes, the odds are modest, but in a ten-runner handicap where the second-favourite is rated a fair way below her, the margin of superiority is real rather than imagined. The comment says she “looks the one to beat” and the numbers back that up. Toby Moore (claiming 7lbs) takes 135lbs down to a more comfortable number from stall five. At 9/4 this is not a bet you pile into, but as a banker in a double or treble with the selections below it earns its place. Balon d’Or (11/2) is the biggest danger based on ratings, but that yard has gone 0 from 7 recently. Alashos (6/1) with Chris Gordon’s yard buzzing at 2 from 3 is worth a watching brief, but the form figures of fourth and seventh since his last win temper the enthusiasm. Happier is the selection.

6:22 โ€” At The Races App Handicap Stakes Div II (6f, Standard)

The more interesting of the two divisions. Walking On Clouds carries momentum and comes from a yard firing on all cylinders.

Selection: Walking On Clouds at 4/1 (Boyle Sports / Betfred) or 7/2 (LiveScore Bet)

Chelsea Banham went 1 from 1 in the last fourteen days, and her Lingfield AW course record of 16% wins with an A/E of 1.25 is the best of any trainer featured on today’s card. That 1.25 A/E figure matters: it tells you the yard runs horses here when they expect them to go close, not to make up the numbers. Walking On Clouds won last time out, has won twice in his last six starts, and brings distance and going experience alongside a low draw with Joey Haynes in the saddle. The 42-day break is the one flag, but Banham’s yard record suggests she times horses well rather than leaving them short of work.

Chasing Gold (4/1) showed ability when winning three starts back but inconsistency is a recurring theme. Von Krolock (7/2) for James Owen is interesting at the price given a second last time out and the trainer’s solid course record, but ranked bottom on ratings it is a tough ask. My Mate Kev (7/2) is 91 days off the track and winless in five, which is a combination that requires exceptional confidence. Walking On Clouds at 4/1 with a fit yard, proven course-and-distance form, and winning momentum is the selection.

Today’s NAP

Jockey silksHappier โ€” At The Races App Handicap Stakes Div I (17:52, Lingfield AW)
Odds: 9/4 โ€” Boyle Sports (others: 9/4 Betfred, 2/1 LiveScore Bet)

Two wins on the bounce, top-rated in the field, and Martin Keighley’s yard is firing at a 50% strike rate over the past fortnight. Proven on today’s trip and going, the 7lb claim from Toby Moore reduces the weight effectively, and nothing in this field has shown the consistent form to trouble her. The 2/1 with LiveScore Bet is the best early-morning price and worth grabbing before any market moves. A clear number-one selection on every metric that matters.
