Lingfield (AW) Tips: Saturday 15 August 2026
A six-race card on the Lingfield Polytrack on a Saturday evening in mid-August, with Standard going and modest prize money throughout. The card is light on depth but there are some genuine angles to exploit, particularly where course-form jockeys and in-form trainers converge. With the York Ebor Festival just three days away, many of the top yards are saving their powder, which makes it worth leaning on the trainers who actively target this surface.
Jack Jones posts a 21% strike rate at Lingfield AW with an A/E of 1.25, making him the standout trainer to follow here. Richard Spencer (15%, A/E 0.93) also runs regularly and profitably enough. On the jockey front, Jack Callan (20%, A/E 1.43) is the name to note, and Pierre-Louis Jamin (16%, A/E 1.23) adds further interest when paired with the right horse.
5:46 โ EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes (6f, Standard)
Selection: Uncle Frank (2/1, Boyle Sports / LiveScore Bet)
An 11-runner juvenile maiden is never straightforward to dissect with limited form on show, but Uncle Frank warrants respect at the top of the market. Trained by Clive Cox, whose yard has hit a solid 3 from 18 in the last 14 days, and ridden by Georgia Dobie, the colt showed enough on debut (fourth) to suggest this trip and surface will suit. Cox is a trainer who picks his spots carefully on the AW, and a 2/1 price in an open maiden with an 11-runner field does carry some each-way appeal.
He’s Readytorumble at 10/3 is the market rival, handled by Jack Channon who runs respectably at Lingfield (17%), but two starts in and still searching suggests Uncle Frank’s debut run may have been the stronger foundation. Honeymoon Bear at 7/2 is worth a look for Joseph Parr, though his yard has blanked in four recent runners at this track.
Verdict: Uncle Frank to make his experience count. Back him at 2/1 win, or each-way in a field this size.
Each-Way
6:16 โ Sky Sports Racing 415 Handicap Stakes (5f, Standard)
Selection: Enter Sandman Each-Way (9/2, Boyle Sports / Betfred)
Only four runners go to post over the minimum trip, so this is a matter of picking your angle carefully. Wyle Cop is a deserved favourite on the back of a win last time, but the seven-day turnaround under 135lbs for trainer Jack Jones, whose yard has gone 1 from 13 in the last fortnight, is a meaningful concern. Winning again off the back of that quick return is a big ask.
Enter Sandman, ridden by Jack Callan, is the angle. Callan is the best jockey on this surface by A/E (1.43), and his trainer Richard Spencer has hit a sharp 3 from 12 over the last 14 days. The 60-day absence is the obvious flag, but Spencer runs horses fresh and doesn’t tend to bring them back to the track unless they’re ready. A win and a second in consecutive starts three and two runs back suggests the ability is there. The 9/2 with Boyle Sports and Betfred represents fair each-way value in a four-runner sprint where the placed market is tight.
Stock Market at 7/2 (LiveScore Bet) is competitive but the 67-day absence is even longer, and Tony Carroll’s 5 from 45 recent record lacks sparkle.
Verdict: Enter Sandman each-way. Trust the Spencer/Callan combination on this surface.

Selection: Kimbara (3/1, Boyle Sports / LiveScore Bet)
Eight runners, a 3-place each-way market, and a field where no one has won recently, so this is a form puzzle. The angle here is trainer/jockey combination: Richard Spencer (3 from 12 last 14 days, 15% course strike rate) sends out Kimbara, and Jack Callan takes the ride. That’s the same combination suggested for the earlier race, and when both are in form at this track, you follow.
Kimbara’s form shows a second and a third in the three starts before his last, which ended in an unplaced run. Ranked at 78 on our figures, he looks well treated on official marks, and 3/1 in a competitive eight-runner handicap is a workable price. Logi Bear at 9/4 has consistent placed form and John Butler has gone 6 from 26 recently, so he’s the main threat and at a cramped price. Kimbara at 3/1 offers the superior value of the two.
Hierarchy at 9/1 catches the eye on ratings, sitting 10lbs clear of his official mark, but six starts without a win is hard to overlook in a race where fresher challengers are available.
Verdict: Kimbara to convert placed form into a win, backed by the Spencer/Callan axis in flying recent form.
Today’s NAP
Odds: 3/1 โ Boyle Sports (others: 11/4 Betfred, 3/1 LiveScore Bet)
Richard Spencer has clicked into gear with 3 wins from 12 in the last 14 days and holds a 15% course strike rate at Lingfield AW. Jack Callan, the most effective jockey on this surface by A/E (1.43 from 50 rides), takes the mount. Kimbara’s form profile shows genuine ability tucked behind a frustrating last run, and at 3/1 in a wide-open six-furlong handicap, the price is right. This combination wins here regularly enough to make it today’s standout bet.
