Lingfield Park, Thursday 18 June 2026: Tips & Selections

Good ground under sunny skies at Lingfield sets up a fair surface today, and the eight-race card throws up some genuine angles worth attacking. Three races stand out for punters with a bit of patience. Pat Cosgrave’s 18% course strike rate here (A/E: 1.04 across 257 rides) makes him one to follow whenever he’s on a live chance, and William Haggas is hitting the ball well at present, notching 8 from 27 in the last 14 days. Keep those two in mind throughout the afternoon.

6:35 โ€” Gatwick Kia PV5 Restricted Novice Stakes (1m3ยฝf)

Selection: Cape Fear (Evens, Andrew Balding)

Cape Fear is the obvious favourite at Evens, and the price is short enough to put you off, but the form profile of 5-3232 tells a consistent story. This Andrew Balding colt has been knocking on the door through his last four starts, placing at the same level repeatedly, and a track switch to Lingfield’s fair galloping circuit over this trip looks tailor-made for his style. Balding has been busy and productive over the last fortnight at 9 from 66, which is a solid volume strike rate from a yard that rarely fires blanks.

Moon Zabeel at 7/2 is the obvious danger. Charlie Johnston’s 17% course record (7/42) is respectable, and George Wood knows the track. But Cape Fear’s consistency edges it on balance, and Evens from a place like this is workable in a seven-runner novice where you’re essentially deciding the market order rather than looking for value.

Selection: Eveninginparis Each-Way (4/1, Richard Hannon / Alec Voikhansky)

Heddon Street at 4/7 is a very short price for a six-furlong novice with nine runners, and Muchacho at 7/2 will attract support for the Kobeissi yard. But the angle that jumps out here is the combination of Alec Voikhansky in the saddle and Richard Hannon at the top of his game.

Voikhansky’s Lingfield numbers are frankly remarkable: 33% strike rate from 21 rides, A/E of 1.88. That is not a fluke over a meaningful sample. Hannon has sent out 7 winners from 50 runners in the last 14 days. Eveninginparis is a lightly raced filly stepping into this Band C and D novice on what looks a workable mark, and the 4/1 with Boyle Sports looks genuinely generous given that jockey-trainer combo. Each-way at 3 places, 1/5 the odds gives you a real safety net in a competitive sprint.

4:41 โ€” Free Tips On attheraces.com Handicap (1m2f)

Selection: Alice De Clare (11/4, James Fanshawe / George Wood)

This is the standout race of the card and Alice De Clare has the form to take it apart. The sequence reads 974211, and three of those last four digits tell you everything: a horse that has found its level, is improving rapidly, and arrives here off a winning run. James Fanshawe’s 19% course win rate (32 from 166, A/E: 1.02) is a consistent Lingfield number that shows his horses genuinely perform here rather than just run. He has hit 3 from 19 in the last fortnight, which is solid.

Windbreaker for William Haggas at 11/2 must be respected. Haggas is the form trainer of the card today, and Darragh Keenan has a live booking. But Alice De Clare’s recent acceleration in form, combined with Fanshawe’s quiet competency at this course, makes the 11/4 look a fair return in what is a competitive ten-runner 3yo fillies and colts handicap.

Mostaan at 10/3 for Owen Burrows has a 2 from 11 fortnight behind him and is fancied by many, but a form line of 5-55 does not inspire confidence for a step forward today.

Light Dreamer Each-Way at 11/1 (Joe Leavy, Richard Hannon) is worth a small each-way dart. Leavy’s 20% Lingfield record (A/E: 1.28) is profitable, Hannon is in a rich seam of form, and a form line showing a 2 earlier in the season suggests the ability is there. At 11/1 with three places on offer, the each-way return is attractive.

Odds: 11/4 โ€” Boyle Sports (others: 11/4 Betfred, 11/4 LiveScore Bet)

The form line of 974211 is the most compelling number on the whole Lingfield card today. James Fanshawe wins at Lingfield at a consistent and profitable rate, his yard has been ticking over nicely, and Alice De Clare arrives here in the form of her life after back-to-back victories. Good ground suits, the step up to 1m2f should play to her strengths, and at 11/4 in a ten-runner handicap there is genuine value against a field full of horses that have not won recently.
