Monmore Green in Wolverhampton hosts a full 24-race card on Saturday, with feature A-grade racing from late afternoon through to 21:50, all on the sand surface.

19:14 – Grade A3 480m

This A3 480m contest features several runners in strong recent form. Pappys Jiver has won two of the last five starts, including a dominant victory at this grade on 1 June (won by 1¾ lengths) and a success at A4 level on 23 May. The bitch broke smartly from Trap 1 in both wins and has shown consistent early pace. However, trap draw data for 480m at Monmore shows Trap 1 winning at 21% over the last seven days, making it a moderate starting gate on this track.

Aero Razorwind, in Trap 3, presents stronger value. The young dog finished second in A3 company on 11 June (1¼ lengths) and is building a solid run of form. Trap 3 at Monmore 480m has won at 25% over the sample period, the best of all traps. Razorwind has raced at both Monmore and Towcester, showing versatility, and the middle trap aligns perfectly with track bias.

NAP: Aero Razorwind, Trap 3. Recent A3 second-place form, trap bias advantage, and consistent middle-distance racing profile make this a solid selection.

20:14 – Grade A2 480m

Goldstar Michael has gone backwards recently, posting a sixth-place finish on 11 June in OR3 company and a third on 4 June from Trap 1. However, he does have a win at this track and grade, suggesting he can bounce back to form. Kilwest Diva has competed at staying distances (630m) where she showed promise with two placings in five runs, but this is a step back to 480m and her most recent 480m run saw her finish fifth on 4 June.

Swift Youngster is the standout pick. The three-year-old has posted three placings in five starts and finished second on 1 June in A2 grade (4 lengths) from Trap 3. The dog has run consistently at this level and is showing form improvement. Trap 3 benefits from the 25% track bias at 480m, and Youngster’s recent A2 second-place effort is the most credible recent performance in the field.

20:34 – Grade A3 480m

Patoka has one win in five starts but floundered in recent A2 company, finishing fifth and fifth in consecutive runs on 11 June and 1 June respectively. Aero Brooke, from Trap 2, shows more promise with two consecutive wins (10 June and 6 June) at A4 and A5 grades, stepping up in class. The bitch has form credentials and is in an upward trajectory, though this A3 race is a genuine grade test.

Sugar King is the clear NAP selection. The young dog has won four of five recent starts, including a recent victory on 16 June at A4 level. More impressively, Sugar King has won at A6, A7, and A9 grades within the last month, showing a remarkable run of form. The dog led from early in four of the five most recent races and has posted victories of 2¾, 4¼, 4½, and 2¾ lengths. From Trap 3, Sugar King gains the track-bias advantage and is clearly in red-hot form.

20:54 – Grade A1 480m

This is the day’s top-class A1 feature. Westway Ruby has mixed recent form, including a third-place finish on 1 June (by a nose) at A1 level, but two recent race abandonment codes suggest recent fixture cancellations or disqualifications. The bitch has shown she can compete at A1 but form is inconsistent.

Longacres Shotta, a young dog from Trap 2, has two second-place finishes in recent A2 and OR3 company (23 May and 7 May), demonstrating consistent placing ability. However, Trap 2 carries only a 13% win rate at Monmore 480m, the lowest on the card.

Tullymurry Troy stands out. The two-year-old won at A1 grade on 12 May (by 4½ lengths) and followed that with a second-place run on 11 June in OR company (by 1 length). Both runs show genuine A1-class ability. More significantly, Troy is trained by J B Thompson and has shown he can handle top-grade racing. One recent run code shows “ByStwds” but the prior performances are strong. From Trap 3, Troy benefits from the 25% track bias, the best on the day, and his A1 win pedigree is superior to rivals in this field.

Meeting Overview

Monmore’s Saturday card spans A1 to lower grades with all races at 480m, the standard trip.
