Naas, Wednesday 24 June 2026 — Tips & Selections
A compact seven-race card at Naas on good to yielding ground, with cloudy conditions keeping the surface honest. The feature is the Group 3 Jannah Rose Stakes over a mile and two and a half furlongs, and there are competitive puzzle pieces across the earlier races too. A P O’Brien hits Naas at 22% from a big sample, which is solid rather than spectacular, while G M Lyons finds winners here at 15% but his yard has been running at a 5/14 strike rate over the last fortnight, which is the kind of form you follow.
5:10 — Dooley Insurance Irish EBF Fillies Maiden (5f, Good To Yielding)
Ten runners, 5f on good to yielding, two-year-old fillies. This is where pedigree, debut readiness and trainer intent matter more than form figures.
Celestial Crown (9/4, Boyle Sports) is the most reliable form anchor in the field. She went down by a short head on debut at Cork, and the winner has since taken a Listed prize. That form reads well and Johnny Murtagh’s yard has been ticking over at a reasonable clip. She is already race-hardened and normal improvement should see her go one better.
The danger is Madam Secretary (15/8, Boyle Sports) for A P O’Brien, who showed promise at Listowel and has a trainer who routinely upgrades juveniles on the second start. The market will push her, but at 15/8 she is odds-on territory and the each-way terms are tight in a field of ten. Celestial Crown at 9/4 represents the better value play against a filly who only narrowly failed on debut with solid subsequent form behind her.
Selection: Celestial Crown — 9/4 Boyle Sports
6:10 — Race & Stay Irish Racing Tours Rated Race (6f, Good To Yielding)
Only four runners, which strips out the each-way market entirely. This becomes a straight win call and the race shapes up as a genuine contest.
Go Just Do It (6/4, Boyle Sports) has course and distance form and Dylan Browne McMonagle in the saddle. His Group 1 outing at a mile last time is forgettable at a track where the trip stretched him. Back at 6f on a stiff course, this is his optimum conditions. J P O’Brien has been sending out winners at a solid rate recently.
The one to watch against him is Oro Blanco (11/4, LiveScore Bet) for Jessica Harrington, who won a maiden at Fairyhouse in taking style and steps up in class. He travelled smoothly and put the race to bed on yielding ground, so the conditions are no issue. Shane Foley takes the ride and Harrington is 4/34 over the past fortnight. He is still unexposed and merits respect, but Go Just Do It’s course and distance record tips the balance.
Selection: Go Just Do It — 6/4 Boyle Sports
6:40 — Al Shira’aa Racing Irish EBF Jannah Rose Stakes — Group 3 (1m2½f, Good To Yielding)
The race of the day and a genuinely open Group 3 over an extended mile and a quarter. Seven fillies, good to yielding ground, and several intriguing angles.
Rebel Moon Each-Way (7/2, Boyle Sports) is impossible to ignore. J P O’Brien’s filly bolted up by a length and a half on debut at Gowran Park and that form has been boosted by a stablemate’s subsequent Group race success. She steps up significantly in class, but the debut was visually impressive and the step is warranted. Dylan Browne McMonagle rides and connections clearly think she is up to this. The unknowns are real at this level first time out in Pattern company, which is why the each-way option at 7/2 on a two-place market is modest. Still, at that price, she carries the most upside of any runner in the race.
The one making the most sense at face value is Cameo (13/8, Betfred/LiveScore Bet) for A P O’Brien. Her Epsom run in Group 1 company can be dismissed without ceremony. She was sent too freely on ground too soft, conditions that don’t represent her. Back on today’s going, dropping into Group 3 company, with Wayne Lordan aboard and O’Brien firing at 9/37 over the past fortnight, she has the form to take this. Two wins from her five starts and a trainer who knows how to place fillies at this level.
Caught U Sleeping (4/1, Boyle Sports) landed a Listed prize here last time out and is proven at the track, finding extra when challenged. The gap since that run is the only flag and Neil Meade is only at 2/22 over the past fortnight, which is a cold stat. She remains a factor though, particularly as she won on this very track.
Selection: Cameo — 13/8 Betfred
Today’s NAP
Odds: 13/8 — Betfred (others: 13/8 LiveScore Bet, 7/4 Boyle Sports)
The Epsom run is a red herring. She was sent forward too freely on soft ground in a Group 1, and neither condition suits her. Back on good to yielding at Naas, dropping into Group 3 company, she has won twice in five starts and her best form is well above this level of competition. A P O’Brien is hitting the board at 9/37 over the past fortnight and Wayne Lordan retains the ride. Take the 13/8 and forget Epsom ever happened.
