Two wins in the last four runs, both at A2 or A3 grade, mark this as a genuine contender stepping up in a competitive heat. Trainer J Fenwick’s dog has shown consistency at Newcastle and at this distance, with the most recent victory achieved by just 1 length despite drawing the unfavourable inside trap. Solway Silver (Trap 3) has similar-grade experience and Trap 3’s 29% win rate offers positional support, but only one win (1 May) in the last five outings makes the form less convincing. Bluebell Teddy’s recent Newcastle form and proven A2 pedigree justify NAP status.

More significantly, Howtimeflys ran to within a nose of victory last time out on 16 June at Newcastle from Trap 1, finishing second at A7 grade. Form comments show consistent early pace (Rls, Ld1/4) and the ability to challenge under pressure. Left Unread (Trap 3) offers younger-dog appeal with form figures showing 3-1-3-2-4, including wins at this grade, and Trap 3’s strong bias favours the position. However, Left Unread is a 1-year-old still learning the longer trip, whereas Howtimeflys has demonstrated more A7 polish.

Solway Splash presents the best value in this closing A6 race. The 2-year-old bitch won most recently on 26 May at Newcastle in A7 grade (by 5 lengths) from Trap 3, showcasing real acceleration. Form reads 4-4-1-6-4 across the last five, and while the last two starts have yielded fourth-place finishes, the earlier A7 win confirms this dog can step up. Trap 3 enjoys Newcastle’s strongest 480m bias at 29%, giving Solway Splash both form momentum and positional advantage. Coppice Survivor (Trap 1) has earlier wins at A7 grade and a quick-away reputation (Rls, QAw), but recent form is older (April) and has not raced at this grade since 1 April. Solway Splash’s more current form and trap bias make the case.
