Newcastle Greyhound Tips – Friday, 22 May 2026
Newcastle hosts a 12-race card on Friday afternoon from 14:36 to 18:02 on its fast sand surface, a track known for rewarding quick early-pace runners and sharp breakaways.
14:36 – Grade A4 480m
| Trap | Dog | Age | Trainer | Last 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Solway Jet | 2y B | D Little | 411 |
| 2 | Mystical Rocky | 1y D | R Hale | 6 |
| 3 | Millview Dake | 2y D | P Singlewood | 263 |
| 4 | Onyago Kathy | 2y B | S Roberts | No form |
| 5 | A Bit Of Ebony | 2y B | S Ray | No form |
| 6 | Solway Ginny | 2y B | D Little | No form |
Solway Jet has been in excellent form at Newcastle, winning three of his last five runs and showing consistent speed at A4-A6 grade. His most recent outing (08 May) saw him finish fourth at A3, suggesting he is ready to return to winning form at this level. Trainer D Little has him running from Trap 1, which carries a 19 per cent win strike over the last 60 days at this distance, but Solway Jet’s sharp early pace and rails-running style (noted as “ALd” and “SnClr” in his recent wins) suggests he can overcome any trap disadvantage. His victories on 03 March and 25 February both came by over 3 lengths, demonstrating raw ability.
Millview Dake, in Trap 3 (the strongest trap bias at 29 per cent), ran well to finish second on 16 May but has shown inconsistency with a sixth-place finish just one week earlier. Solway Jet’s momentum is more convincing.
NAP: Solway Jet, Trap 1.
15:13 – Grade A4 480m
| Trap | Dog | Age | Trainer | Last 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Swift Despite | 2y B | R Hale | 563 |
| 2 | Solway Dream | 1y B | D Little | 233 |
| 3 | Fabulous Request | 3y B | J T Edgar | 243 |
| 4 | Whitehills Birdy | 2y B | R J Buckton | No form |
| 5 | Morning Fifi | 2y B | M Gray | No form |
| 6 | Solway Ernie | 2y D | D Little | No form |
Solway Dream has recorded three consecutive third-place finishes and one second-place effort over his last four runs, all at A4 grade. His form string reads 23331, indicating steady improvement and consistency at this exact level. He was second on 15 May after running from Trap 2, and claimed victory on 25 April from the same trap. Trainer D Little’s handling has been effective, and Trap 2 carries a respectable 23 per cent win strike. His narrow losses suggest one clear run could deliver a winner.
Fabulous Request has shown two seconds in her last five, but recent form includes a sixth-place finish on 23 April and variable results across different traps. Solway Dream’s consistency at this grade over four consecutive outings makes him the safer choice.
NAP: Solway Dream, Trap 2.
16:47 – Grade A2 480m
| Trap | Dog | Age | Trainer | Last 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ballymac Neems | 4y B | J Fenwick | 126 |
| 2 | Tinnock Stellar | 2y B | P Singlewood | 513 |
| 3 | Fooled Again | 1y D | D Winder | 152 |
| 4 | Bramble Shelby | 2y D | C L Hardy | No form |
| 5 | Please Sadie | 2y B | S Roberts | No form |
Fooled Again is the standout pick in this Grade A2 contest. A 1-year-old trained by D Winder, this bitch won on 16 May from Trap 3 (the strongest bias trap at 29 per cent) with a “QAw” break and led throughout. Her form string reads 52215, which masks a talented runner who is hitting peak form at the right time. More significantly, she ran from Trap 4 on 09 May and 01 May, where trap bias is weak at 8 per cent, yet still finished 5th and 2nd respectively. From her preferred Trap 3 tonight, with ideal early pace and a recent victory, she is the class act in this field.
Ballymac Neems won on 08 May but has since shown inconsistency with a sixth-place finish at A2 on 16 April. Tinnock Stellar is a 2-year-old with limited form at this grade; his recent run at HP (hurdle) and a switch from sprint distances to 480m adds uncertainty.
NAP: Fooled Again, Trap 3.
18:02 – Grade A3 480m
| Trap | Dog | Age | Trainer | Last 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Parkview April | 2y B | D Winder | 445 |
| 2 | Bramble Harvey | 3y D | C L Hardy | 462 |
| 3 | Wanted Bocko | 2y D | S Roberts | 231 |
| 4 | Toddys Ace | 3y D | R J Buckton | No form |
| 5 | Teddys Lass | 3y B | S Roberts | No form |
| 6 | Alnwick River | 3y D | A Harrison | No form |
Wanted Bocko delivers the best value in the closing race. This 2-year-old bitch has won once in five recent runs (01 May at A5, by 7 lengths) and narrowly missed with two second-place finishes: 14 May (by 0.75) and 07 May (3rd). Her recent form 62315 shows a dog climbing the grades and starting to deliver. Trap 3 is optimal at Newcastle 480m (29 per cent bias), and her comments show “SAw” on 14 May yet still got close, suggesting a better break tonight will bring immediate reward. Trainer S Roberts has her competitive against A3 rivals.
Parkview April has been stepped up in grade and has not raced competitively since January. Bramble Harvey’s recent form includes a sixth at HP and lower-grade placings. Wanted Bocko’s momentum and trap advantage are decisive.
NAP: Wanted Bocko, Trap 3.
Meeting Overview
Newcastle’s 12-race card spans A1 to A6 grades at the standard 480m trip. Trap 3 is the dominant bias across the day (29 per cent strike rate), so runners drawn in the middle of the track have a statistical edge. Early-pace types will thrive on this fast sand surface; watch for quick getaways and smooth runs to the first bend.
Punters’ Note
Starting prices firm up in the 10-15 minutes before each race, so monitor Betfair, Bet365, Sky Bet, and William Hill for live odds. Greyhound forecast markets (1st and 2nd in order) offer good value when you have conviction; consider reverse forecasts if backing outsiders. This is an all-sprint card at one distance, so form is comparable across all races.
