Perth, Sunday 12 July 2026: Tips & Analysis

A six-race card at Perth on a sunny summer Sunday, with good ground throughout. The Scottish track rewards course specialists and form horses in equal measure, and the trainer stats here are worth leaning on hard. Mickey Bowen and Olly Murphy both post exceptional Perth figures, and Sean Bowen’s 32% strike rate at the track is almost absurdly good. When those connections align, you follow.

Five runners, but two dominate the market and the formbook. L’Amalric is the narrow favourite at 10/11 with BoyleSports, trained by Olly Murphy who posts a remarkable 30% strike rate at Perth with an A/E of 1.23. That is not a trainer who sends runners here to make up the numbers. Sean Bowen is in the plate, and his 32% Perth record speaks for itself. The 5yo’s form of FP3-13 shows a win last time out, and while the fall and pull-up earlier in his profile give pause, the Murphy-Bowen combination at this track is the story. Short enough to be a confident win single rather than each-way, given the five-runner field.

Holy Joe for Gordon Elliott at 6/4 Boyle Sports is the obvious threat. Elliott runs at 28% here and the horse won last time out, but Rian Corcoran takes the ride and Elliott’s last 14 days show just 6 wins from 57, which is a cold yard by his standards. L’Amalric is the call.

Selection: L’Amalric, 10/11 BoyleSports

2:41 โ€” Sun Racing Summer Jumps Championship Handicap Chase (2m, Chase, Good)

Conquer The Breeze is the standout. Three wins from his last five starts including his most recent outing is a record that demands respect in any handicap, and Adam Nicol’s yard has returned 1 win from 5 runners in the past fortnight, suggesting the horses are running to form. The pulled-up effort at the start of that sequence is the only real concern, and at 11/8 with BoyleSports and Betfred the market has already identified this horse as the class act of the race.

Ras Kassar at 4/1 is the danger worth a second look. Four wins in his last five is a compelling stat, and a 42-day freshener could have him primed. The 167lb burden is hefty for a 5yo in a two-mile chase, though, and the trainer Boisnard is not a Perth specialist by any measure.

Conquer The Breeze, back within 21 days, proven over course and distance, and arriving in the form of his life. Win only at 11/8.

Selection: Conquer The Breeze, 11/8 BoyleSports

3:51 โ€” Sport, Education & Wellbeing Handicap Chase (3m, Chase, Good)

Statuario Each-Way is the horse to be on at the each-way terms on offer. Mickey Bowen’s yard is firing at 27% over the past fortnight, and Bowen’s Perth trainer record of 30% wins with an A/E of 1.16 is as good as it gets at this track. Throw in Sean Bowen in the saddle at his personal 32% Perth strike rate, and the yard-jockey combination becomes a serious angle. The 11yo has won twice in his last five starts, including a win two runs back, and proven form over this trip and going ties the package together neatly. Odds of 15/8 with BoyleSports and LiveScore Bet represent fair market value, and the each-way terms of 2 places at 1/4 odds mean a placed return is live even if something nicks it on the line.

Grand Clermont at 7/2 is the main market rival. Two wins in his last five, David Pipe running at 29% at Perth, and a quick 14-day turnaround from a trainer who uses this track regularly. He’s not dismissed, but Statuario gets the nod on the combination of yard form and the Bowen booking.

Selection: Statuario, 15/8 BoyleSports / LiveScore Bet Each-Way

  • Each-way terms: 2 places at 1/4 odds
  • Mickey Bowen: 30% Perth strike rate, A/E 1.16
  • Sean Bowen: 32% Perth strike rate
  • Yard in-form: 27% last 14 days

Odds: 10/11 โ€” BoyleSports (others: 5/6 Betfred)

Olly Murphy’s 30% Perth strike rate with an A/E of 1.23 is the best trainer angle on the card, and pairing him with Sean Bowen who wins 32% of his Perth rides is a combination you simply respect. L’Amalric won last time out, arrives in the form of his novice career, and Murphy does not make the trip here without a live chance. The price is short but justified in a five-runner field against a Gordon Elliott yard that has been cold over the past fortnight. Win single, no each-way needed.
