Redcar, Saturday 8 August 2026 — Good To Firm Throughout

A seven-race card on the Yorkshire coast, and the ground is riding quick. Good to firm suits horses who travel through their races rather than grind, so watch the draw in the sprint and pay close attention to the trainers firing at the moment. Jennie Candlish’s numbers at this track are excellent and her yard is running at a scorching 33% over the last fortnight. That combination matters. William Haggas is the other name to respect here, his Redcar record at 25% speaks for itself and he saddles a fascinating debutant-ish filly in the opener on the card. Let’s get into it.

2:02 — Watch Racing TV In Stunning HD Maiden Stakes (7f, Good To Firm)

This is a straightforward race on paper with two horses dominating the market, and the right one is probably at the top of it. Yimmna (William Haggas / Cieren Fallon, 5/6 LiveScore Bet) has form figures of 7-2 and is taking a significant step forward in terms of opposition quality here. The 7 was likely a learning run, the 2 showed she’s getting competitive. Haggas wins 25% of races at Redcar, Fallon hits 22% at the track, and the yard has been in tremendous form with ten wins from 52 runners in the last fortnight. That is a stable in full flow. She will strip fitter for recent experience and good-to-firm suits quick-actioned types that Haggas typically produces. At 4/5 with LiveScore Bet she is not a wagering opportunity as such, but she is the banker you need to know about.

The value play at bigger odds is Vastern Each-Way (Adam Kirby / Tom Eaves, 6/1 Boyle Sports and LiveScore Bet). Form reads 2-3, beaten a neck and a length in his two starts, consistently finding one better. Three places are paid on 1/5 the odds so at 6/1 each-way he is a very solid place bet at minimum, and if Yimmna has any kind of issue he has the form to capitalise.

3:12 — Marske Fabrications Straight Mile Handicap (1m, Good To Firm, 14 runners)

Fourteen runners on a straight mile at Redcar, four places paid, and some genuine angles in here. This is the race of the day for value hunters.

Frankies Dream Each-Way (Jennie Candlish / Sean D Bowen, 9/2 Boyle Sports, Betfred and LiveScore Bet) is the one I want to be on. Candlish’s Redcar stats are strong at 15% wins and an A/E of 1.14, but the live number is the one that really matters: seven wins from 21 runners in the last 14 days. That is a trainer operating at full throttle. Frankies Dream brings solid placed form, third three starts back and second four starts back, and at a mile on good-to-firm he should be well suited. The last two runs look like they need context; if the yard is firing like this, there’s every chance he was saved for this kind of opportunity. At 9/2 in a 14-runner handicap he represents each-way gold with four places on offer.

Mr Mistoffelees Each-Way (Sam England / Jonathan England, 8/1 Boyle Sports and LiveScore Bet) is the alternative at a bigger price. Back-to-back seconds in his most recent starts and Sam England’s A/E of 1.64 at this track is the best in the trainer stats provided. He is frustrating but consistent, and at 8/1 with four places paid the each-way case is real. The father-and-son combination of trainer and jockey adds a nice angle.

Capital Guarantee (David O’Meara / Mark Winn, 8/1 Boyle Sports) won last time out and arrives in form. O’Meara operates at 15% at Redcar and Winn’s course A/E of 1.74 is outstanding. Worth including in any multiples.

3:47 — Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap Stakes (5f, Good To Firm, 5 runners)

Five-runner sprint, only two places paid, so each-way is tough to recommend on anything but the outsiders. The race splits into two camps: those who have been placed recently and those who have not.

Sports Coach (Antony Brittain / Cam Hardie, 11/4 Boyle Sports and Betfred, 5/2 LiveScore Bet) is the horse the market has latched onto and with good reason. Back-to-back runner-up finishes in his last two starts, experience over five furlongs on good-to-firm, and he carries the lightest weight in the field at 122 lb. Winless recently, yes, but he is knocking loudly and this looks the right spot to go one better.

Democracy Dilemma (Robert Cowell / Tom Eaves, 10/11 Boyle Sports and Betfred) has the highest rating and stall one is ideal in a five-furlong sprint. The trainer is cold but the horse’s rating of 102 puts him well clear of rivals. If you need a banker for a Lucky 15 or accumulator, he is your man at 10/11. The trainer’s recent stats are the only thing stopping this being a totally confident selection.

Today’s NAP

Jockey silksFrankies Dream — Marske Fabrications Straight Mile Handicap (3:12, Redcar)
Odds: 9/2 — Boyle Sports (others: 9/2 Betfred, 9/2 LiveScore Bet)

Jennie Candlish is the hottest trainer on this card, seven wins from 21 runners in the past fortnight at a track where her overall A/E runs to 1.14. Frankies Dream has strong placed form at the right level, the straight mile on quick ground suits a horse who travels through his races, and at 9/2 in a 14-runner handicap the four-place each-way terms make this outstanding value. The yard is clearly primed and this looks the right race to strike.
