11:01 – Grade A4 500m

Fagans Peggy in Trap 1 dominates the early stages of this A4 field. The three-year-old bitch has won three of her last five starts at Sheffield, including a dominant 5¼-length success on 7 May and a two-length victory on 21 April at A6 level. She breaks well from Trap 1, which has notched 22% strike rate over the past 60 days at this distance. While she showed one poor effort on 28 April (fourth, blamed to a missed break and bump), her lead-from-gun record is excellent, and she has progression form on the card. Killeacle Cher, in Trap 3, is also sharp – she won her last outing at A6 – but has shown vulnerability to early bumps.

12:09 – Grade A3 500m

Mucky Signet in Trap 1 is a young dog (one year old) with mixed form but a standout recent win on 28 April at A5 level, and an earlier head-victory on 23 April at A6. He won both races from the front, and Trap 1’s 22% win percentage on this sand course suits his early-pace style. However, his fifth-place finish five days ago is a concern, and he faces a stiff A3 challenge today. Lightfoot Rocky in Trap 2 shows more consistency: three outings in his last five resulted in placings (3-3-2), and he looks reliably placed. Emers Lola carries only sprint-rated form and limited Sheffield data, making her unexposed at this distance and grade.

12:26 – Grade A2 500m

This is the day’s headline race, and Drumdoit Fern in Trap 1 arrives in outstanding form. The young bitch won on 5 May at A4 by a head and finished second on 28 April, also by a neck – both runs showing sharp racing and late finishing. She has won races at sprint distances (280m) but the move to 500m is logical given her pace and finishing ability. Trap 1 carries the best statistical edge at 22% and suits her quick-breaking profile. Calgray Deva in Trap 2 has also won twice in recent starts (5 May, 16 April) and is proven at A4, but moving into A2 is a step up; she showed a poor fifth on 24 April when crowded early. Droopys Nell in Trap 3 has lost five consecutive races, with heavy defeats in her last two outings, despite running at the same A3 level.

13:17 – Grade A3 500m

Another Syd in Trap 2 has won two of his last five starts and shows consistent top-three form in A4 and A5 races. His recent wins on 28 April and 14 April came from the lead, and his third-place finish on 7 May shows he is peaking. Dusty Path in Trap 1 won on 30 April at HP level and carries respectable A4/A5 form, but has not raced at A3 grade and may find the step up stiff. Kilgarran Belle in Trap 3 has three A3/A4 outings since 30 April but shows inconsistent placings (4-4-2), with only one win in her past ten races. She was narrowly second on 5 May but lacks the sparkle of Another Syd.
