Tramore, Friday 29 May 2026: Tips and Selections
A seven-race card at Tramore on good ground under sunny skies. This is a track that throws up plenty of course specialists and trainer patterns matter here more than most venues. Henry De Bromhead runs at 15% from a huge sample at Tramore, and with his yard firing at 11/33 over the last 14 days, his runners deserve respect. Gordon Elliott posts the same strike rate here but his A/E of 0.82 suggests the market tends to over-trust him. The standout stat on the jockey front: Danny Gilligan wins at 24% here with an A/E of 1.62, meaning he consistently outperforms his odds. Keep that name very firmly in mind.
5:20 Tramore Derby July 7th Beginners Chase (1m7f, Good, 8 runners)
Selection: Endless Talking (6/4, Boyle Sports and Betfred)
This is a competitive enough beginners’ chase on paper but Endless Talking stands out for all the right reasons. Trainer Gavin Cromwell has been busy with 8 winners from 47 runners in the last 14 days, a yard firing at a solid clip. The horse himself bolted up by 20 lengths at Downpatrick three weeks ago over 2m3f on good ground, and the RPR he posted that day reads well in this field. He’s a point-to-point winner too, so jumping fences is not going to be a new language. Good ground is exactly what he wants, and he gets it today.
Costacurta at 15/8 looks the obvious market rival, rated 120 over hurdles and well-bred for fences, but the Spotlight notes he’d prefer a longer trip. Mercury Mission at 7/2 is honest but outclassed here if Endless Talking shows up in his Downpatrick form. Take the 6/4 without hesitation.
5:55 Walsh King Accountants Handicap Chase (1m7f, Good, 12 runners)
Selection: Lady Doyanne Each-Way (10/3, Boyle Sports and Betfred)
Twelve runners, a handicap chase, and a Henry De Bromhead runner with the yard in serious form at 11/33 over the past fortnight. Lady Doyanne makes her chasing debut here and while that is a question mark, her pedigree suggests she’ll take to fences and the Spotlight treatment is notably warm, describing her as “interesting.” Darragh O’Keeffe takes the ride, a jockey who knows this track well. Her last run in a handicap hurdle at Clonmel was not disgraced, and if the jumping clicks, a debut mark over fences gives the handicapper nothing to work with.
Stuntman Steve at 10/3 is fascinating in first-time cheekpieces, finally getting his preferred good ground after a frustrating 2026, and Keith Donoghue is a solid booking. He’s 0-5 over fences but the conditions are right today for a turnaround. At the same price as Lady Doyanne, he’s worth a small saver.
Bynx at 11/2 has a hurdle win at this track and her form profile over fences isn’t hopeless, but the 7lb hike from her only chase win is a concern in this company.
7:35 Graun Hill Suite Handicap Hurdle (2m, Good, 7 runners)
Selection: Eastmore (9/4, Boyle Sports and Betfred)
C Byrnes posts a 15% strike rate at Tramore with an A/E of 0.94, one of the better-value yards at the course. Philip Byrnes takes the ride on Eastmore and this horse’s form profile is the strongest in the race. He won a Down Royal handicap on good to firm last August and held his form admirably through the season. His latest run at Cork over 2m3f saw him get outstayed by the front two, and dropping back to 2m today is a clear positive. He’s back from a break, which is what his yard does routinely, and good ground suits.
Splashing Out at 5/1 ran a solid race at Downpatrick three weeks ago and is back on a manageable mark. She won’t be far away and merits respect as the main danger. Figero at 8/1 is an interesting unexposed type who appreciated decent ground when scoring at Kilbeggan, and for each-way punters in a seven-runner field with two places on offer, he’s not entirely without interest.
Playtime (7/2) won a Leopardstown maiden on soft to heavy and has looked disappointing on better ground since, including a flat run at Killarney recently. Against him here.
Today’s NAP
Odds: 6/4 โ Boyle Sports (others: 6/4 Betfred, 6/4 LiveScore Bet)
A 20-length winning margin at Downpatrick three weeks ago on good ground, a point-to-point win confirming he handles fences, and a yard in form across the past fortnight. Endless Talking has the form, the conditions, and the profile of a horse stepping up to chase with serious purpose. The 6/4 is fair enough given the quality he showed last time, and nothing in this field gives you a stronger reason to be confident.
