Tramore, Saturday 30 May 2026 – Tips & Analysis
Tramore on good ground with light rain threatening to ease things slightly through the afternoon. The track rewards course specialists hard, and the trainer stats here are stark: Willie Mullins wins 30% of his runners at this venue, Paul Townend converts at 28%. Danny Gilligan is the wildcard jockey to note, striking at a massive A/E of 1.65 from his small but potent sample. Three races stand out for punters with a proper interest.
5:23 – Curraghmore Mares Beginners Chase (1m7ยฝf)
Selection: Future Prospect (8/11, Boyle Sports/Betfred)
The Mullins machine rolls out Future Prospect with Paul Townend in the saddle, and that combination at Tramore is almost a banker in itself. The concern with this mare has always been that she can race freely, but she handled a Listed hurdle at Punchestown last time without being disgraced over 2m on yielding ground. She was smart in bumpers, has a point win on her CV, and jumps to chasing here with far more upside than anything else in the field.
Emily Love is the main danger at 6/4. The Gordon Elliott mare has a hurdle mark of 129 and was going well when falling two out on chase debut at Killarney. That form entitles her to plenty of respect. If you want a bigger price with an each-way angle in a six-runner race though, stick to Future Prospect at the head of the market. Pampar Lady (13/2) won three times over hurdles last season and the trip and ground suit, but she faces a big class jump against the Mullins/Elliott runners.
Future Prospect to win. Townend plus Mullins at a venue where the yard converts nearly a third of runners is the angle.
6:00 – Racing TV Handicap Chase (2m6f, 12 runners)
Selection: Lake Chad Each-Way (11/2, Boyle Sports/Betfred)
Twelve runners, a handicap chase, and a horse that has won here twice over this trip. Lake Chad is the veteran you keep backing at Tramore because he keeps delivering. The 11-year-old was 11 lengths clear over this exact trip here last month when the drier ground made all the difference. Today’s conditions look very similar and the 8lb rise, while not trivial, does not take him out of the picture when you look at his historical mark at this track.
Aclass at 4/1 is the biggest danger. The horse won his beginners’ chase here and was beaten a neck over shorter at Tramore last month. Three pounds higher now, but the course form is rock solid and Jordan Canavan has been riding with confidence. He is the value if you want something shorter.
Dinoland (7/2) bolted up over nearly 3m at Downpatrick three weeks ago and good ground clearly suits, but a 7lb rise for winning can be punishing, and his record before that win read PPP. Hard to fully trust him repeating at this level. Killinure Lass (7/1) won this race 12 months ago off only 3lb lower and deserves a mention as an each-way player in a big field.
Lake Chad at 11/2 each-way in a 12-runner handicap is the play. Four places at 1/5 odds means a placed return is meaningful at this price, and his Tramore record makes him impossible to leave out.
7:00 – Dunmore East Maiden Hurdle (2m, 18 runners)
Selection: Drombane Each-Way (15/2, Boyle Sports/Betfred)
Eighteen runners in a maiden hurdle, three places at 1/5 odds, and a Mullins runner without Townend in the saddle. That last point is key context: Paul Townend rides the yard’s other entry here, which means Drombane is the second string. Sean O’Keeffe takes over.
Even as the second Mullins runner, Drombane has the form figures to be competitive. His RPR of 120 is the highest in the race by a distance. His best hurdle effort was an 11-length second at Clonmel over 2m3f on soft, and while he dropped away tamely here on yielding last time over 2m4f, the step back to 2m on better ground looks a positive move. At 15/2 in an 18-runner field, the each-way case writes itself.
Ripsnorter (15/2) won a bumper for Andy Slattery and has changed stables, but has to concede weight to the principals. Worth noting at the price in a big field but the form is limited. Alaskan View (16/1) at the bigger price could sneak a place for a smaller each-way play if the form click comes, but Drombane is the one with the standout raw rating in the race.
Today’s NAP
Odds: 8/11 – Boyle Sports (others: 8/11 Betfred, 8/11 LiveScore Bet)
Mullins and Townend at Tramore, where the yard wins 30% of runners and Townend converts at 28%. Future Prospect brings genuine potential to chasing after bumper class and a creditable Listed hurdle run at Punchestown, and this six-runner beginners’ chase gives her the ideal low-risk starting point. Emily Love is a live danger but the Mullins horse has more upside.
