Tramore Friday Tips: 14 August 2026

A seven-race card at Tramore on good ground, and there are three races with enough data to take a strong view. The going suits horses with natural toe rather than mudlarks, and with Willie Mullins firing at 30% at this track over time, his runners always demand respect even on a Friday evening card. Let’s get into it.

5:05 โ€” Seamus Byrne Electrical Steeplechase (2m6f, Chase)

Selection: Rocky’s Diamond โ€” 11/8 Boyle Sports and Betfred

Five runners, but the race largely revolves around two horses. Rocky’s Diamond is the pick. Michael Kenneally is a jockey worth following at Tramore, landing 20% of his rides here at a healthy A/E of 1.41, and he partners a horse who won last time out over today’s trip and going. That pulled-up run two starts back looks the one stain on his record, but trainers with a 4/10 strike rate over the last fortnight suggest the yard is very much firing. The handicapper has him at 164lbs alongside several rivals, so there is no weight advantage to speak of, but on current form he is simply the one to beat.

The bigger price in the race is Thecompanysergeant at 3/1, who won two starts back and was placed three starts back. He has the going and trip experience, and Gavin Cromwell’s yard is ticking over at 2/23 in the last fortnight, which is not inspiring, but Keith Donoghue is a competent partner. At a slightly bigger price he is the each-way alternative if you want cover.

More Coko at 13/8 with Mullins in the saddle chair is tempting given the trainer’s course stats, but two recent sixths and a fall do not inspire confidence, and 131 days off is a serious absence for a horse whose form is hard to read.

6:15 โ€” Majestic Hotel Maiden Hurdle (2mยฝf, Hurdle, 13 runners)

Selection: World As One โ€” 11/4 Boyle Sports and Betfred

Thirteen runners in a maiden hurdle and the Mullins factor looms large. World As One is trained by Willie Mullins, who wins 30% of his races at Tramore overall, and Brian Hayes takes the ride. The form reads 2-453, which is steady rather than spectacular, but a horse hitting the placed column consistently in maidens is accumulating experience and is clearly not far off winning. The 11/4 is a fair price in a race where several rivals are complete unknowns.

Seven Towers Each-Way at 5/1 (Boyle Sports) is worth a small each-way interest. Gavin Cromwell’s yard is quiet at the moment, but the form reading 63-339 shows consistency and the horse has been placed at this level. Three places on offer in a 13-runner field at 1/5 odds, and 5/1 is the sort of price that makes each-way betting worthwhile here.

Chasing Blues at 15/8 with De Bromhead is the obvious market rival. The trainer’s 4/34 strike rate in the last fortnight is not exactly a yard in rampant form, and the form of S-42 shows a fall in the sequence. Capable of going close but not certain to improve enough to beat a well-loaded Mullins runner.

6:50 โ€” John Fairbrother Memorial Mares Handicap Hurdle (2mยฝf, Hurdle, 10 runners)

Selection: Sea Of Doubt โ€” 4/1 Boyle Sports and Betfred

The race of the evening. Ian Patrick Donoghue’s operation lands 20% of its runners at Tramore at an A/E of 1.79, making him one of the sharpest trainers to follow at this track. His charge Sea Of Doubt carries 162lbs, the lightest weight among the market leaders, and Josh Williamson takes the ride. Williamson also hits at 20% here with an A/E of 1.28. That combination of trainer and jockey both clicking at this track, both at positive A/E values, is the kind of angle that has genuine substance behind it.

The form reads 16232U and the unseating last time is the question mark, but before that she had finished placed four times in a row. She has the trip and going experience, and 162lbs is a workable burden. The 2/10 strike rate for the yard in the last fortnight adds further confidence that the string is fit and ready to run.

Del Boys Diva at 11/4 is the market leader and deserves respect off back-to-back wins, but 166lbs is a stiff ask on this evidence and Keith Donoghue’s yard is not in brilliant form over the past fortnight. Galileo Springs at 13/2 (6/1 LiveScore) is an interesting alternative at the bigger price given her recent placed form, but Sea Of Doubt at 4/1 with the Tramore trainer and jockey angle is the smarter bet.

Today’s NAP

Jockey silksSea Of Doubt โ€” John Fairbrother Memorial Mares Handicap Hurdle (6:50, Tramore)
Odds: 4/1 โ€” Boyle Sports (others: 4/1 Betfred, 7/2 LiveScore Bet)

Ian Patrick Donoghue wins 20% of his runners at Tramore at an A/E of 1.79, and his yard has been in form with 2/10 runners placed in the last fortnight. Josh Williamson also strikes at 20% here. Sea Of Doubt has been placed four times in her last five completed starts, knows the trip and going, and carries the lightest competitive weight in the field. The A/E figures for both trainer and jockey at this specific course make this more than a form opinion. Back her to at least place at minimum.
