Tramore Tips: Thursday 13 August 2026
A seven-race card at Tramore on good ground gives us three competitive jumps contests to get stuck into. The course stats are worth noting before we dive in: Willie Mullins dominates here with a 30% strike rate and a level-stakes A/E of 1.0, meaning his runners are genuinely priced to their ability rather than over-hyped. Gordon Elliott’s Tramore record is softer at 15% with an A/E below 1, suggesting his runners are often sent off too short. Danny Gilligan is the jockey stat that stands out most, converting at 21% with an A/E of 1.51, which means backing him blind on this track would have turned a profit. Keep that in mind across the card.
5:11 Bar 1 Betting Rated Novice Steeplechase (1m7ยฝf, Chase)
Six runners, good ground, and a race that sets up nicely for Luker’s Tipple at 2/1 with Boyle Sports and Betfred. Gavin Cromwell’s five-year-old has been knocking on the door all season and his form reads 2-3411, with that back-to-back win sequence over the most recent two starts giving him a strong momentum angle. Keith Donoghue takes the ride and knows what he’s doing in Ireland’s southern jumping game.
The market rival is Killeemore Lad at 11/8, but Andrew Slattery’s yard is running at just 3 from 32 over the last 14 days, which is a concern. A fall in the recent form string is also there in the shape of that ‘F’, and novice chasers with jumping errors are always risks on an undulating course like Tramore. Luker’s Tipple’s recent wins suggest a horse who has found his confidence, and at 2/1 that’s a fair price on a horse who arrives in form.
Selection: Luker’s Tipple, 2/1
6:48 Flynn Hotel Group Handicap Hurdle (2m, Hurdle)
This is the race of the day in terms of angles and it points clearly to one horse. Rightfolksplease at 7/4 is the standout. Declan Queally’s yard is running hot, 5 wins from 12 runners over the last 14 days, which is an outstanding strike rate for a smaller operation. The horse himself won last time out and the form string 3F0/21 shows a gelding that bounced back from a fall to place and then win. Over today’s trip and going, with the lightest weight in the race at 158lbs, and with Kevin Healy’s 7lb claim bringing that down further in practice, this looks the right race at the right time.
Churchwarden is the 2/1 alternative for De Bromhead, but those two pulled-up efforts since his last win are a major red flag, and the comment data confirms that concern explicitly. Dairy Force is consistent for Elliott but remains winless in recent starts and Elliott’s Tramore A/E of 0.83 is a gentle warning not to go chasing his runners blindly at short prices.
Selection: Rightfolksplease, 7/4
7:18 WTW Willis Rated Novice Hurdle (2m4ยฝf, Hurdle)
Seven runners here and this is where it gets interesting. The market has Early Dawning and Mr Master Mac locked together at 2/1, but the Mullins angle is hard to ignore. Willie Mullins is operating at a 30% Tramore strike rate with an A/E of 1.0, and Early Dawning’s last run was a win, making him the most obvious play from the top stable on the card. Danny Mullins takes the ride, a combination that wins plenty of races.
The value play, though, is Holy Joe Each-Way at 8/1 with Boyle Sports and Betfred. Gordon Elliott sends two runners here, and while his overall Tramore record is nothing special, Holy Joe’s recent form of 6-U11 tells you this horse has won his last two completed starts. The unseating was clearly a jumping incident rather than a form concern, and the back-to-back wins since then suggest a horse with a real upward curve. Danny Gilligan rides, and on this course that’s a significant positive given his 21% strike rate and 1.51 A/E at Tramore. A 7-runner field pays two places, meaning Holy Joe at 8/1 each-way at 1/4 the odds gives you a place return at 2/1.
Early Dawning remains the most likely winner from the Mullins house, but for value and the Gilligan angle, Holy Joe is the each-way play of the race.
Each-Way Selection: Holy Joe, 8/1
Today’s NAP
Odds: 7/4 โ Boyle Sports (others: 7/4 Betfred, 7/4 LiveScore Bet)
Declan Queally’s yard is red-hot with 5 winners from 12 runners in the last 14 days, and Rightfolksplease arrives on the back of a win with the lightest weight in the race and Kevin Healy’s 7lb claim to exploit. The 2m trip on good ground suits, the form figures confirm a horse in form, and the market rivals all carry credible question marks. At 7/4 this is a solid price for a horse from a yard that is clearly in its best run of form.
