Atalanta League Position Tells the Story
Lecce are 18th in Serie A with 27 points and a goal difference of -19. That is a relegation battle in full swing. Di Francesco's side have won just three games away from the Stadio Via del Mare all season, and their home record is nothing to shout about either: four wins, four draws, seven losses at home. This is a squad running on fumes and hoping for favours elsewhere in the table.
Atalanta sit 7th on 50 points and, while they are clearly the stronger side on paper, Raffaele Palladino's men have had a rough few weeks in the Champions League. Back-to-back Bayern München results of 6-1 at home and 4-1 away show a team that can be overrun by elite opposition. But Lecce are not Bayern. Not even close. In Serie A, Atalanta have nine home wins and have only lost twice at their own ground all season. They travel with purpose.
Form and Key Injuries
Lecce have lost four of their last five across all competitions, shipping nine goals in the process while scoring four. Their one bright spot was a 2-1 home win over Cremonese. Take that out and this is a side that has conceded at will: 0-1 to Roma, 1-2 at Napoli, 1-3 at Como, 0-2 at home to Inter. Di Francesco needs points desperately, but the fixture list is cruel.
Atalanta's last five has a mixed feel on the surface, but the Bayern losses were in the Champions League knockouts against one of the best sides in Europe. Strip those out and in Serie A they drew 1-1 at Inter and beat Hellas Verona 1-0, with a 2-2 draw at home to Udinese before that. Not vintage form, but certainly not a team in crisis domestically.
The injury news hurts both sides. Gianluca Scamacca misses this one, which is a real blow for Atalanta given he has eight goals in 20 appearances this season. Éderson and Bakker are also out. For Lecce, Lameck Banda is absent, and he has three goals and three assists in 24 appearances this campaign. Marchwiński and Jean also miss out. Both squads are depleted, but losing Scamacca is arguably the more significant blow in terms of attacking threat.
Head-to-Head
The last five meetings between these two clubs make for bleak reading if you back Lecce. Atalanta have won four of the five, with one draw. Last season, Lecce lost 0-4 at home to Atalanta in August 2024, then 0-2 at home again in May 2024. The reverse fixture at Atalanta in December 2023 ended 1-0 to the hosts. This season, Atalanta won 4-1 at home in September 2025. The only time Lecce avoided defeat recently was a 1-1 draw at Atalanta in April 2025.
Lecce at home against Atalanta have not won in recent memory based on this run. The pattern is consistent and the current league positions only reinforce it.
The Betting Angle
Atalanta at 1.79 to win is reasonable value given the context. Yes, Scamacca is missing, but Nûri Krstović has also notched eight goals in 26 appearances this season and provides a ready alternative. Lecce's top scorers are Coulibaly, Banda (injured) and Štulić, all on three goals each. The attacking firepower is simply not there to threaten a win.
The head-to-head is overwhelmingly in Atalanta's favour, Lecce are in the bottom three, and their home form is genuinely poor. The one angle that could tempt you differently is Scamacca's absence and Atalanta's slightly off domestic form in recent weeks, but I still cannot back a Lecce win or a draw at those prices when the underlying data points so clearly in one direction.
