Uttoxeter, Sunday 28 June 2026

A seven-race card at Uttoxeter on good ground, with three featured handicaps across chase and hurdle company giving punters plenty to work through. Dan Skelton’s yard is operating at a blistering 41% strike rate over the past 14 days, and Harry Skelton’s 28% course record here is the standout jockey stat. When those two combine at this track, you pay attention. The Austrian Grand Prix is also live today at the Red Bull Ring if you need a break between races, but the value is firmly on the flat-cap circuit this afternoon.

2:52 bet365 Handicap Chase (2m, Good)

Kingston Narcissus is the bet here, and it is not a complicated argument. Dan Skelton has sent out winners at a 41% clip over the past fortnight, Harry Skelton converts at 28% at this course with an A/E of 1.09, and the horse arrives off a mark he has already shown he can destroy. A 17-length win two starts back was emphatic, and a close-up second last time on the same weight he carries today tells you the handicapper has not yet caught him. Seven runners means each-way is not in play, but the 9/4 available at Boyle Sports and Betfred is still a fair price given the evidence on the board.

Newtown Rambler is the market leader at 11/8 and has genuine claims after winning by five lengths last time, but the significant hike in the handicap mark is a red flag, and dual headgear applied for the first time suggests connections themselves are uncertain about the ceiling. Kingston Narcissus at a bigger price with a trainer and jockey combination that makes Uttoxeter their own is the correct call.

Selection: Kingston Narcissus, 9/4 (Boyle Sports / Betfred)

3:27 bet365 Summer Cup Handicap Chase (3m, Good)

Queensbury Boy Each-Way represents the most interesting each-way play in the feature. Mickey Bowen’s yard is operating at 23% at this course with a healthy A/E of 1.03, and the trainer has sent out three winners from 12 runners in the past 14 days. Queensbury Boy was beaten a neck last time off this exact mark, ranks equal-top on the figures, and is bred and schooled to handle this trip and ground. The fence jumping inconsistency is noted, as is the first-time tongue-tie, but at 4/1 in a 14-runner handicap paying four places at 1/5 odds, this is a horse who could easily finish in the first four even if a winner eludes him.

Ki Woo at 3/1 is the obvious alternative. Won well at Cartmel last time by over three lengths, stays beyond today’s trip, and is progressive. The headgear combination is new and that is a slight unknown, but he looks the most likely winner if jumping holds together. Riskintheground at 5/2 with Dan Skelton and Harry Skelton in the saddle is never to be dismissed, though the revised mark may be at the ceiling of what he can manage on this evidence.

Selection: Queensbury Boy each-way, 4/1 (Boyle Sports / LiveScore Bet), 11/4 Betfred

4:03 bet365 Handicap Hurdle (2m7ยฝf, Good)

Miss Goldfire Each-Way is the standout each-way play in the finale. Harry Fry converts at 25% at this course with an A/E of 1.13, meaning his runners regularly outperform their market price at Uttoxeter. This seven-year-old mare coasted home by 11 lengths at Newton Abbot last time, flourishing with the step up in trip to exactly the kind of distance she faces today. The rise in the mark is fair given the winning margin, and first-time tongue-tie is the only equipment change. At 5/1, and with three places on offer in an 11-runner field, the each-way case is genuine.

American Sniper is a strong second choice. He bolted up by 13 lengths at Newton Abbot last time and clearly loves dictating at his own pace. The concern is that Miss Goldfire is also suited to going forward, and two pace-setters fighting for the same ground can suit hold-up horses. Ebony Warrior won at Worcester last time by three lengths and the Killahena/McPherson combination has an A/E of 1.32 at this course, which is the highest on the card. He runs a big race at 4/1 on a quick turnaround.

Crebilly has solid claims at 10/3 after winning at Market Rasen, but the longer trip is a genuine query, and the O’Neill yard is firing at just 8% in the past 14 days.

Selection: Miss Goldfire each-way, 5/1 (Boyle Sports / Betfred / LiveScore Bet)

Today’s NAP

Jockey silksKingston Narcissus โ€” bet365 Handicap Chase (2:52, Uttoxeter)
Odds: 9/4 โ€” Boyle Sports (others: 9/4 Betfred, 9/4 LiveScore Bet)

The combination of Dan Skelton’s red-hot 14-day form, Harry Skelton’s outstanding 28% course record at Uttoxeter, and a horse arriving off a mark he was nearly 17 lengths better than two starts ago is as solid a NAP foundation as you will find on a Sunday card. The second last time proves he retains his ability and connections, and at 9/4 in a seven-runner field where the favourite carries questions about his revised mark and new headgear, this is value hiding in plain sight.
