Duke’s recent form string shows consistency: 2-4-2-3, and his releases (Rls) suggest he handles rail tactics well. The step up to A3 is manageable given his close finishes at A4.

11:13 – Grade A3 460m

Affleck Henbit has been in outstanding form: two seconds in his last three 460m runs (30 April and 26 April), plus a narrow win over A5 on 16 April. He took second again on 30 April running from trap 1, and that early pace establishment (ALd) suits his profile. Puckane Ceol won an IT race on 22 April (21/1 odds, suggesting competitive form recognition) but previously finished sixth at A3 on 30 April. Hawkfield Blitz has slipped backward: two fifth-place finishes in his last three Valley outings at A2/A3 level.

NAP: Affleck Henbit, Trap 2. This dog is bang in form with two placings in three races. Trap 2 carries 22% strike rate over recent 460m runs at Valley. Henbit’s recent form shows he has settled into A3 competition and consistently leads from the front (ALd = always led). His strong finish notation (StrFn) on 30 April indicates he finds extra late.

This is the strongest field of the day. Bluejig Aoife is in exceptional recent form: three wins in her last five races (3 May, 26 April, 16 April), all at Valley, all running from trap 1. She has won at A3 and A4 grade and is now stepping into A2 territory, but her class credentials are clear. She leads from trap 1 consistently (LdFr1) and powers to the finish (StrFn). Simpson Sniper won an OR race on 26 April by over five lengths, but his more recent second-place finish (3 May, also OR) came off trap 2, and he has mixed form at Newcastle’s longer 480m. Grovenor Anna is a solid A2 regular with a second at this grade on 9 April but has drifted to fourth and third finishes since.

NAP: Bluejig Aoife, Trap 2. Despite running from trap 1 in recent wins, Aoife is drawn in trap 2 here, which carries 22% strike rate at Valley over 460m. Her form is the most reliable in the race: three wins in five runs, all at Valley, all within the last month. She won both her A3 races (26 April, 3 May) and her A4 races (16 April, 9 April). The step to A2 is natural progression and her quick-away rating and relentless front-running style suits this trip perfectly.

13:29 – Grade A2 460m

Ashway Diva has impressed with recent form: a win on 30 April and two second placings (5 May, 26 April), with all runs showing early pace (EP, QAw). She won an A3 race on 21 April and is now competing at A2 level where she has logged three runs in her last five outings. Marinas Malta returned from unavailable status on 29 April with an IT win (2.25 odds), but her most recent outing is that unavailable status on 6 May, which raises concern. Quivers Quest is a young one-year-old with mixed A2/A3 form, posting two seconds but also a failure and a fourth-place finish over five runs.

NAP: Ashway Diva, Trap 1. This bitch is firing: five consecutive races producing two wins and two seconds. She is drawn in trap 1 (14% strike rate, the weakest at Valley over 460m recently), but her explosive early pace (QAw, EP) allows her to dictate and avoid trap congestion into the bend. Her wins on 30 April and 21 April both came off early leadership and strong finishes. Trap bias favours trap 3 (23%) at Valley, but Diva’s class and recent form override a modest draw disadvantage.
