Valley Greyhound Tips – Thursday 21 May 2026
Valley Greyhound Stadium in Swansea hosts 13 races on Thursday evening, with the first race at 17:53 and the finale at 21:26. Wales’s busiest greyhound venue promises a competitive card across multiple grades, with all three feature races run over the standard 460m trip on sand.
19:58 – Grade A2 460m
| Trap | Dog | Age | Trainer | Last 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Simpson Sniper | 2y D | S Chappell | 621 |
| 2 | Ashway Diva | 2y B | A Rawlings | 252 |
| 3 | Epic Evelyn | 2y B | D S Davy | 232 |
| 4 | Mustang Darwin | 3y D | J A Danahar | No form |
| 5 | Ashway Marshy | 3y D | A Rawlings | No form |
| 6 | Good Streak | 4y D | A N Morgan | No form |
A quality A2 contest that has drawn strong recent form. Simpson Sniper (Trap 1) showed promise with an Open race win on 26 April at Valley, running from Trap 1 and clocking 1 by 5ยผ lengths. However, the most recent outing on 10 May ended poorly with a sixth-place finish after crowding and a block into the first bend. That suggests congestion risk from the inside gate.
Ashway Diva (Trap 2) has been consistently placed at this grade, with two seconds and a win from her last five runs. Her 30 April victory came from Trap 2 with a challenging-through run, and a narrow second on 17 May (just 1 length back in an Open) shows she’s in excellent current form. However, Trap 2 has won only 22 per cent at Valley’s 460m over the last 21 days.
Epic Evelyn (Trap 3) stands out as the standout pick. This 2-year-old by trainer D S Davy has finished second in three of her last four races and won decisively on 21 April (1 by 1ยพ lengths). More importantly, she ran from Trap 4 on 10 May and still managed second place, and Trap 3 carries a 23 per cent winning strike rate at this track and distance, the best on the card. Form reads “12321” across her last five, and she’s clearly versatile across trap positions. NAP: Epic Evelyn, Trap 3.
Mustang Darwin, Ashway Marshy, and Good Streak arrive with limited or no recent form data at this level, making them less suitable for confident selection.
19:24 – Grade A3 460m
| Trap | Dog | Age | Trainer | Last 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bells Babe | 2y B | D S Davy | 241 |
| 2 | Marlfield Diaz | 5y D | D S Davy | 525 |
| 3 | Glory Goodtime | 3y D | D S Davy | 451 |
| 4 | Hawkfield Blitz | 3y D | A N Morgan | No form |
| 5 | Affleck Salsabil | 2y B | C Darch | No form |
Bells Babe (Trap 1) has won twice in her last five starts, including an A3 success on 30 April from Trap 1 with a rails run and front-running effort. Most recently she finished second on 14 May from Trap 2, just 3ยฝ lengths adrift. However, the inside trap carries some risk: Trap 1 shows 14 per cent win rate at Valley’s standard distance, the lowest bias on the board. Her form is strong but the draw is problematic.
Marlfield Diaz (Trap 2) and Glory Goodtime (Trap 3) both have winning form at A3 level. Diaz won from Trap 3 on 15 April and showed promise with a second-place finish from Trap 2 in A2 company on 6 May. Glory Goodtime, however, has the more recent momentum: he took an A3 win on 30 April from Trap 3 after a clear run, and his 21 April second from Trap 3 (just ยพ length back) indicates genuine quality. His form string “14212” across five outings shows consistency. Trap 3 has a 23 per cent strike rate, and Goodtime’s mid-track running style suits the trap draw. NAP: Glory Goodtime, Trap 3.
Hawkfield Blitz and Affleck Salsabil are without recent form data and are best avoided in what looks a competitive three-way tussle at the head of the market.
18:46 – Grade A4 460m
| Trap | Dog | Age | Trainer | Last 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Grovenor Sienna | 3y B | A Rawlings | 356 |
| 2 | Da Scallywag | 3y D | D S Davy | 645 |
| 3 | Marinas Victoria | 2y B | D S Davy | 434 |
| 4 | Bluejig Bobby | 3y D | J A Danahar | No form |
| 5 | Crokers Ocean | 2y D | C Darch | No form |
Grovenor Sienna (Trap 1) has been busy with recent starts, but the form reads “35536” across her last five races, showing a downward trend. A sixth-place finish on 3 May after a block and rails run followed a fifth-place effort on 10 May. The 26 April win came over 645m (a longer trip), so stamina rather than this sprint distance may suit her better.
Da Scallywag (Trap 2) has also struggled, with a recent sixth-place from 14 May after bumping and middle running. His last A3 race on 21 April is marked unavailable, and form across shorter 260m trips doesn’t translate reliably to 460m.
Marinas Victoria (Trap 3) has shown more promise: three finishes from her last five outings show “43424” with a fourth-place from 17 May on Saturday. She remains within A4 company and has competed consistently, though no dominant run jumps out. She’s unexposed at this grade with only limited finishing data to build confidence.
Bluejig Bobby and Crokers Ocean lack recent race data and cannot be recommended with certainty. This race lacks a standout performer, making it a cautious heat for focused selection.
18:11 – Grade A5 460m
| Trap | Dog | Age | Trainer | Last 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ashway Charlie | 5y D | A Rawlings | 154 |
| 2 | Mams Bags | 3y B | A N Morgan | 216 |
| 3 | Quivers Rex | 3y D | J A Danahar | 146 |
| 4 | Aldean Spice | 1y B | M J May | No form |
| 5 | Affleck Airborne | 3y B | A L Jeffery | No form |
Ashway Charlie (Trap 1) has form at this grade and won decisively on 17 May (1 by 4ยผ) from Trap 2, leading from the third bend. However, his runs before that show inconsistency, and at 5 years old he’s entering the veteran phase.
Mams Bags (Trap 2) has won at A6 level (one win on 13 May from Trap 3) and has shown two second-place finishes in recent weeks, though her most recent outing on 17 May was a runner-up effort from Trap 3. Limited A5 specific runs make this race less certain.
Quivers Rex (Trap 3) offers the strongest recent evidence with a brilliant win on 10 May (1 by ยฝ length) from Trap 4, delivering a quick away and running to lead. That victory shows genuine A5 capability and he’s been competitive at this grade. However, a significant gap exists in his form record between 25 March and 10 May, suggesting a layoff or recovery period. NAP: Quivers Rex, Trap 3.
Aldean Spice (Trap 4) is only 1 year old and listed as a puppy runner, meaning form is highly unpredictable at this stage. Affleck Airborne (Trap 5) arrives without recent form.
Meeting Overview
Thursday’s card spans A2 down to A5, with the three feature races all contested over 460m on sand. There are no staying (630m+) or sprint (262m) races in the feature selection, making this a traditional mid-distance card favourable to dogs with balanced turn speed and drive. Trap 3 carries the best bias (23 per cent strike rate) across the 460m distance, and three of the four feature selections come from that gate.
