Wexford, Friday 3 July 2026: Tips and Analysis

A warm evening card at Wexford on good ground, with three competitive contests to pick through. The track suits horses that travel prominently and jump fluently, and on ground this side of soft, speedier types tend to come into their own. Henry De Bromhead has a strong course record here even if recent form is mixed, while Joseph Patrick O’Brien’s 21% strike rate at the venue stands up well and crucially his A/E of 1.06 tells you punters are getting a fair price. Worth remembering that Wexford is also a track where front-runners and prominent racers dominate, so pay attention to any horse with an established front-running profile. With the British Grand Prix at Silverstone lighting up the weekend and boxing fans eyeing Abdullah Mason versus Joe Cordina, there is plenty competing for attention, but there is genuine value on this card if you know where to look.

6:52 Slaney Valley Beginners Chase (2m3f, Good)

Eclipse Chaser (W P Mullins / Sean O’Keeffe, 4/1 Boyle Sports and LiveScore Bet) is the selection here. The key fact is simple: he has already been around Wexford over fences, ran third on his chase debut at this exact venue, and now returns on better ground which suits. Mullins runs at 26% at this course with a respectable overall record, and the stable is described as having a strong record in this contest specifically. First-time tongue-tie is applied, which often signals a yard expecting improvement. At 4/1 in a beginners chase with an 11-runner field, there is no need to overcomplicate this.

Duke Silver (J P O’Brien / J J Slevin, 9/4) is undeniably interesting on his chase debut after finishing third in a Listed hurdle at Punchestown. O’Brien’s A/E of 1.06 at Wexford is one of the better course stats on the card. But at 9/4 you are taking a short price about a first-time chaser, and the form book shows Eclipse Chaser has already handled these fences. The favourite’s price reflects the reputation rather than the experience over the bigger obstacles.

Fillyoureye (Mullins / Hayes, 5/1) unseated at Punchestown last time and is worth siding against at this stage despite stable confidence clearly being there.

Selection: Eclipse Chaser, 4/1 (Boyle Sports / LiveScore Bet)

7:25 Molloy Metals Recycling Handicap Chase (2m3f, Good, 12 runners)

Nouvotic (Henry De Bromhead / Darragh O’Keeffe, 15/8 Boyle Sports and Betfred) lines up here in the form of his life and demands respect despite the relatively short price. Three wins from his last five starts, the most recent a 10-length demolition job in a Grade 3 chase at Punchestown. That is not handicap form, that is top-level form. He handles this sort of trip on decent ground, the conditions are right today, and a first-time hood is applied which often means the yard is addressing a specific issue and expecting a sharp performance. De Bromhead is 19% at Wexford overall, and while his recent 14-day stats are modest, this horse is in a different category to his usual Wexford runners. A hat-trick is on the cards and 15/8 is the price.

Ma Jacks Hill (Gordon Elliott / Jack Kennedy, 7/1) is the each-way alternative in a 12-runner handicap with four places paid. Each-Way He won a novice chase at Punchestown last time by three-quarters of a length, is building confidence over fences, and Jack Kennedy is a top-level booking. First-time tongue-tie and blinkers add a definite angle. Elliott has been firing in the last 14 days at 8/57, which is modest, but Kennedy on a fresh chaser with gear changes at 7/1 each-way in a 12-runner race is a solid each-way play regardless.

Watch The Weather (R P Cody, 10/1) catches the eye for the trainer angle. Cody runs at 17% at Wexford with an A/E of 1.09, which means punters are generally getting fair value. However the recent form makes it hard to get enthusiastic and the Listed run at Ballinrobe was flat.

Selection: Nouvotic, 15/8 (Boyle Sports / Betfred)

4:47 Shamrock Enterprises Maiden Hurdle (2m4f, Good, 17 runners)

Fou De Toi Each-Way (W P Mullins / Sean O’Keeffe, 9/2 all books) is rated top on these figures and showed useful form in France before arriving in Ireland. Mullins at 26% course strike rate is the single best trainer stat on the card, and his yard has been running at 7/19 over the last 14 days, which is an exceptional hot streak. A 17-runner maiden hurdle pays three places, and at 9/2 each-way there is genuine value in the place market alone. The last run was disappointing but a 90-day break and a drop back to 2m4f after a 3m effort can account for that. Mullins does not run horses like this at tracks like Wexford unless he expects them to run well.

Captain Hanley (Eamonn O’Connell / Phillip Enright, 5/1) placed at Punchestown last time and showed he handles a sound surface over three miles despite some jumping errors. Hood and tongue-tie applied. The danger if Fou De Toi underperforms again.

Majestic Horizon (P J Rothwell / Tiernan Power Roche, 12/1) is worth tracking. Point-to-point form has already translated under rules, he has placed twice recently, and a step up to hurdles over a longer trip is the upgrade he needs. Rothwell has been quiet but this horse looks capable of progress at double-figure odds. Each-way at 12/1 in a 17-runner maiden is tempting.

Selection: Fou De Toi, 9/2 each-way (Boyle Sports / Betfred / LiveScore Bet)

Today’s NAP

Jockey silksNouvotic โ€” Molloy Metals Recycling Handicap Chase (7:25, Wexford)
Odds: 15/8 โ€” Boyle Sports (others: 15/8 Betfred, 7/4 LiveScore Bet)

A 10-length Grade 3 winner on his last start, Nouvotic arrives here in the form of his career. Good ground at Wexford suits, the trip is right, Darragh O’Keeffe takes the ride, and a first-time hood suggests the yard has him primed. In a 12-runner handicap chase, this horse looks to be operating at a level above his rivals and 15/8 should be snapped up before the market trims it further.
