Windsor, Saturday 27 June 2026: Tips and Best Bets

A decent Saturday card at Windsor under good to firm conditions. The ground is riding fast and true, which will suit horses who can quicken on a sound surface. Three races stand out as genuinely puntable, and the featured handicap at 7:45 has a clear angle that the market is already cottoning on to. Get on early if you agree with the reasoning below.

7:15 โ€” Sporting Times Sri Lanka British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes (1m2f)

Selection: Ruler Of Time (Evens, all major firms)

Four runners, two serious contenders. Ruler Of Time looks the play at evens, and the case is straightforward. Charlie Appleby’s gelding has run to a consistent level across five starts, placed on four of them, and the Doncaster second last time out on similar going is a solid reference point. He handles this surface, stays the trip, and the top-figure reading from the comments makes him the one to beat.

Gonna Fly at 4/5 favourite is awkward to side with after that last display. He was unsettled in the preliminaries and raced far too freely, which is a red flag at this stage of his career. He won well on debut and clearly has ability, but laying out good money at 4/5 on a horse with a known temperament issue feels unnecessary when the alternative at an identical price offers a cleaner profile.

Ruler Of Time not winning yet is a concern for some punters, but his consistency in deeper company than this suggests he is just waiting for the right opportunity. This looks like it.

7:45 โ€” Sri Lanka Paradise Island Handicap (1m3ยฝf)

Selection: Wisper (9/4, Boyle Sports/Betfred)

Wisper is the standout play of the card, and the market agrees, but 9/4 still represents fair value given the profile. Alan King’s mare won this exact race last year, returned to form with a course-and-distance win last time out with something to spare, and now comes back just 3lb higher. She handles any ground, loves Windsor, and the trip is tailor-made.

The only caveat is King’s recent record: one win from 26 runners over the last fortnight suggests the yard is not firing on all cylinders. However, a horse winning a course-and-distance race with a visibly comfortable margin is harder to dismiss than stable form numbers alone. Wisper herself is in form, and that counts for more here.

Fireblade at 11/4 is the obvious market rival and the step up in trip is a genuine plus. Dylan Cunha’s yard has three winners from 22 runners in the last 14 days, which is a yard to note. If Wisper gives you any doubt, Fireblade each-way at 11/4 is the alternative, though the place terms at 1/5 in a field of eight are hardly generous.

Spioradalta Each-Way at 15/2 with Boyle Sports and Betfred is worth a small each-way play as a saver. Mark Walford has two winners from 12 runners in the last two weeks, the Ripon win two starts back was solid, and if he settles better than last time, he runs into a place at this price.

4:40 โ€” Al Nujaifi Racing Trophy (Listed, Pure-bred Arabians) (1m)

Selection: Fareedhat El Izz

Pure-bred Arabian racing is a niche discipline with limited form data to work from, but the numbers here tell a clear story. Fareedhat El Izz brings a form line reading /1113- to this Listed contest, three wins from her last four completed starts before her latest effort. That level of consistency in this discipline is hard to ignore, and James Owen’s six-year-old mare is bred for this game.

Victoria showed a solid 6322-2 profile with a recent second, and the Hassall runner cannot be dismissed, but the weight of winning form on Fareedhat El Izz’s side of the ledger is the strongest single indicator in this field. Billy Loughnane picks up the ride, and he is a jockey in smart form across the board this season.

Today’s NAP

Jockey silksWisper โ€” Sri Lanka Paradise Island Handicap (7:45, Windsor)
Odds: 9/4 โ€” Boyle Sports (others: 9/4 Betfred, 2/1 LiveScore Bet)

Won this race twelve months ago, came back with a course-and-distance win last time carrying something in hand, and returns only 3lb higher. Windsor is clearly her track, the good to firm surface is ideal, and the form lines over this exact trip are as clean as you will find in a Saturday handicap. Take the 9/4 with Boyle Sports or Betfred rather than drifting into 2/1 elsewhere. The trainer’s recent numbers are the single reason this is not a banker, but the horse’s own form makes her the standout selection on the card.
