Windsor, Thursday 7 May 2026 — Good To Firm
A straightforward six-race card at Windsor on ground that will suit the quick types. Good to firm at Windsor in early May can be unforgiving for horses that want cut, so look sharp for animals with previous form on fast ground or those coming down the handicap. Three races here stand out for punters with something to say about them.
2:25 — Tips For Every Race At raceday-ready.com Handicap (5f)
Dragon God Each-Way is the selection at 10/3 with Bet365 and that price looks workable in an 11-runner sprint handicap on good to firm ground.
Tony Carroll has had four winners from 35 runners in the last 14 days, which is a solid strike rate for a handicap yard, and Dragon God has been with him only a short time. What matters is what the horse has shown since switching yards: two turf runs back, and on the latest of them he finished a close third at Leicester over 6f on good to firm ground just 12 days ago. He runs off the same mark today, drops back to the minimum trip, and Rossa Ryan takes over for the first time. That jockey booking is a statement of intent from the yard.
Honour Your Dreams is interesting at 13/2 with Bet365. He won over course and distance last May and followed up at Lingfield on the same going a week later. He is now 14lb lower than those wins. Michael Attwater's yard has gone quiet lately but the form angle is genuine and the drop in the weights is hard to ignore completely. He makes each-way appeal at the price in a competitive 11-runner field.
Hello Luna at 7/2 is probably the market leader, Jonathan Portman's yard is operating at 4/16 over the last fortnight which is fine, but the horse's form figures of -82453 do not scream "win now." Pass at that price.
Selection: Dragon God, 10/3 Bet365
2:55 — Judge Law Maiden Stakes (5 runners, 6f)
Starryfield makes the most appeal at 7/4 with Bet365 in a small-field maiden that does not warrant each-way consideration.
James Owen's yard has been in sharp form, 14 winners from 49 runners over the last 14 days is a strong return that commands respect. Starryfield placed twice at Newcastle in the winter over 5f and 6f, and his latest run at 7f looked like a stamina issue rather than a loss of form. Back at 6f here, on good to firm which suits quick, front-running types, he has sound claims. The market prices him as second favourite but the trainer form tips him as a lively contender.
Jazl at 11/8 is the favourite and the Crisford yard has been ticking over at 1 from 11, which is not a yard firing on all cylinders. The gelding shaped well on debut at Thirsk but regressed next time at Brighton. Post-gelding improvement is possible, but laying out 11/8 about an unproven improver when the trainer stats are cool feels like a thin edge.
Swiped at 4/1 with Bet365 is a Ralph Beckett gelding who showed promise over course and distance last year. The yard is returning just 3/26 in the last fortnight, so the 4/1 is fair value without being compelling. Each-way in a five-runner field is never on, so this is win or nothing, and the trainer form does not justify it at that price.
Selection: Starryfield, 7/4 Bet365
3:27 — Padel Maidenhead Anniversary Cup Handicap (1m, 12 runners)
Narmar Each-Way is the pick here at 17/2 with Bet365 in a 12-runner mile handicap where four places are on offer at 1/5 odds.
This gelding was in excellent order last summer. He won at Ffos Las over a mile and signed off the season with a fine second over 1m2f here at Windsor. That is the key piece of form: he is a proven course performer at a track where the mile suits hold-up horses who travel well into the straight. He reappeared at Thirsk over 7f 19 days ago and finished tenth, but that trip was short of his best and the race was his first run back after eight months on the sidelines. Strip sharper, back up to a mile, back at Windsor: the conditions are stacking up.
Jennie Candlish's yard is 2/22 in the last 14 days, which is moderate, but this horse has specific form at this venue that makes the trainer stats secondary to the course angle.
The Hare Rail at 4/1 with William Hill is the market fancy on a decent RPR of 89, but he is yet to win, his form figures over the last six runs show no victory, and Roger Teal's yard is 0/12 in the last fortnight. That combination of a winless record and a cold trainer makes the short price look thin.
Great Blasket at 8/1 each-way is worth a line in a saver capacity. The Newland and Insole yard is going well at 3/24, he won twice on turf last summer over this sort of trip, and returning from an AW winter campaign to Windsor in May suits his profile. But Narmar is cleaner on the course form.
Selection: Narmar, 17/2 Bet365 each-way

Odds: 10/3 — Bet365 (others: 6.4 Betfair Exchange, 7/2 Midnite)
Tony Carroll's yard is running at four winners from 35 runners over the last fortnight, Dragon God has shown real promise in two turf runs since joining the yard, and his close third at Leicester on good to firm 12 days ago reads perfectly for today's conditions. He runs off the same handicap mark, comes back from 6f to the minimum trip he has shaped with pace to handle, and Rossa Ryan takes the ride for the first time. At 10/3 in a race where several rivals have question marks over form or going, this is the value of the card.
