Windsor, Monday 1 June 2026: Evening Tips

A decent Monday evening card at Windsor to kick off the week, with the Epsom Derby just five days away providing a nice backdrop to the summer turf season getting properly into gear. Good to firm ground with light rain forecast is the picture here, and that going description matters enormously across all three featured races. Windsor’s straight six and sharp five-furlong track heavily rewards handy, quick-actioning types, so keep that in mind throughout.

Richard Hannon runs well at this track (15% strike rate, 116 winners) and notably has 10 winners from his last 53 runners over the past fortnight. George Boughey (16% at Windsor) and Billy Loughnane (15% course wins) are also worth latching onto when the angle is right.

7:15 โ€” Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap (6f)

Selection: The Untamed (9/2, BoyleSports/Betfred)

Richard Hannon’s yard is firing right now, and The Untamed arrives here with a perfect three-run profile that makes him look well-placed for a handicap debut. Two wins from two starts before his Doncaster penalty run 16 days ago, where he made hard work of it but was finishing strongly despite hanging left under pressure. That green behaviour is exactly what you expect from a lightly-raced three-year-old finding his feet, and the key line is this: he was strong at the finish. That tells you the well is far from dry.

Jockey Joe Leavy retains the ride. The switch to 6f suits a horse who has shown a natural turn of foot, and good to firm is where he has thrived. On a handicap mark that already looks lenient given his progression, Hannon’s operation at 10 winners from 53 in the past fortnight adds confidence that the yard is in form. At 9/2 on his handicap bow, this is a horse with genuine upside. Back him now before that mark gets away from him.

Comical Point (10/3) is the obvious market rival and Andrew Balding has 7 winners from 52 in the past two weeks, so don’t dismiss him. Back-to-back thirds in decent handicap company and a TS of 98 confirms he’s in good shape. But the wide draw is a genuine concern at Windsor over this trip, and The Untamed simply looks the more progressive animal.

Amorim Each-Way at 9/1 (BoyleSports) is worth a small each-way saver. George Boughey has a strong 16% Windsor record, the C&D win last summer shows he handles this track, and the fitting of blinkers and a tongue-tie signals a fresh approach. The yard has had 7 winners from 30 in the last fortnight. At 9/1 with three places paid at 1/5 odds in an 11-runner field, the each-way terms are generous enough to justify a small play.

5:05 โ€” Fenchurch Insurance Brokers Handicap (5f)

Selection: The Thames Boatman (6/1, BoyleSports/LiveScore Bet)

This is a tight eight-runner sprint but The Thames Boatman catches the eye at a double-figure price that doesn’t fully reflect his recent form. Richard Hughes has had 4 winners from 25 in the past fortnight, and this quirky six-year-old finally got his act together on turf at Goodwood last month, winning a 5f handicap in a new headgear combination. Up just 3lb for that win, he arrives here in what looks a workable spot.

The key to him is the headgear change that appeared to unlock something, and PJ McDonald takes the mount again. He often dwells at the start, so draw and field size matter, and a compact eight-runner field on a sharp Windsor five furlongs is actually quite suitable for a hold-up type who can produce a late run. Good to firm ground is fine.

Solar Edge (15/2, BoyleSports) demands respect having beaten The Thames Boatman by a nose at Bath last month, but a 3lb penalty for that Bath win tightens the gap considerably, and that race was run over an extra half-furlong. Gina Mangan claims 3lb and connections clearly fancy another raid, but at 15/2 the value has gone relative to The Thames Boatman at 6/1.

Moulin Booj (3/1, BoyleSports/Betfred) is a C&D winner and a drop in the market, but his last three runs have been poor, including a flat last-of-six at Bath after going too freely. Hard to back into at that price right now.

6:45 โ€” Ravens Roofing Supplies Fillies’ Novice Stakes (6f)

Selection: Gold Digger (1/3, BoyleSports/Betfred)

Short odds deserve a mention rather than a tip here, but Gold Digger genuinely warrants her favouritism. Both runs have come over this exact trip on good to firm ground, her Yarmouth debut win came at a price of 9/4 against strong form horses (the form has worked out well), and her Albany run at Royal Ascot last year was a creditable sixth of 17 after suffering a slow break and then pulling hard. Richard Spencer has a standout 17% Windsor strike rate (A/E of 1.42, the highest on the card), and this race looks made for her return.

Saffie Osborne rides, and despite a penalty for the Yarmouth win, this is a soft novice by any measure. Those looking for each-way value should look elsewhere, but if you need a banker leg in a multiple, Gold Digger is a confident selection.

March Of Time Each-Way at 5/1 (BoyleSports/Betfred) is the most interesting newcomer in a race full of debutantes. Clive Cox has had 4 winners from 23 in the past fortnight. The breeding screams class: closely related to Repeater (RPR 112) and the Group-placed All Out. Hector Crouch takes the ride. If the market support is there, this filly could easily fill the place spot at a generous price. Treat it as an each-way play in what is effectively a race between a penalty-carrying favourite and unexposed sorts.

Material Girl (8/1, BoyleSports/Betfred) has a seriously strong pedigree with multiple five-furlong black-type relations, but Archie Watson has only 2 winners from 34 runners in the past two weeks, and that form line gives you pause. Market watch before committing.

Jockey silksThe Untamed โ€” Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap (7:15, Windsor)
Odds: 9/2 โ€” BoyleSports/Betfred (others: 4/1 LiveScore Bet)

Three runs, two wins, and a finishing run at Doncaster that screamed greenness rather than weakness. Richard Hannon has 10 winners from 53 in the past fortnight, good to firm is his ground, and this is a handicap debut off a mark that was set before he showed his full hand. The progression is there. Get on at 9/2 before the market catches up.
