Wolverhampton (AW) Tips: Tuesday 16 June 2026

A midweek evening card at Wolverhampton under the lights, with standard going on the Tapeta surface despite some light rain in the area. Three races to focus on tonight: the two divisions of the EBF Restricted Novice over six furlongs and the concluding 5f maiden. With juveniles dominating the early races, trainer form over the last fortnight becomes a key angle when bare form is thin on the ground.

Ballisty is a short-priced favourite at evens, but the form reading of 3-2 is honest without being spectacular. The more interesting angle sits with Ventura Power Each-Way at 8/1 with Boyle Sports and Betfred. Trained by George Boughey, who is operating at a 7/30 strike rate over the last 14 days and carries a 17% course win rate at Wolverhampton, this colt has a live place shout at minimum. Jack Callan takes the 3lb claim and also holds a solid 16% course record at this track. The each-way terms of three places at 1/5 make this genuinely attractive at the price.

The other runner worth a second look is Duidin at 4/1. Trainer John Butler is in decent nick with 3 from 15 over the last fortnight, and the 3-8 form line suggests a horse that ran a respectable race on debut before potentially finding six furlongs here more suitable. At 4/1 though, Ventura Power at double that price is the far more appealing risk-reward proposition.

  • Selection: Ventura Power (each-way) at 8/1 (Boyle Sports/Betfred)
  • EW terms: 3 places at 1/5 odds

6:15 โ€” EBF Restricted Novice (Division II)

The second division sees the market dominated by Macau at 11/4 on the back of what looks like a well-backed debutant from Archie Watson’s yard. Pierre-Louis Jamin is a capable jockey, but Watson’s 14-day strike rate of 2/33 gives reason for pause before blindly following the market.

The selection here is Radahn at 10/3 with all three firms. George Scott sends this colt in with a 3/18 recent record and a 17% course win rate at Wolverhampton that gives him genuine claims. Daniel Muscutt has ridden the course well and knows the track intimately. In a division where several runners are unraced, backing a trainer with a demonstrable record on this surface at just over 3/1 feels like the right play.

A small each-way interest on Comeonfeelthenoise at 8/1 is not unreasonable. Harry Eustace is 1/11 lately but this is a debutant who could improve for the experience and hit the frame at a nice price.

  • Selection: Radahn at 10/3 (Boyle Sports/Betfred/LiveScore Bet)

On paper this looks like a straight fight between the Richard and Peter Fahey-trained favourite Spaceman and Argy Bhaji. But the form map tells a more nuanced story.

Spaceman is 11/10 favourite on the back of a 2-3 form line that suggests he keeps finding one or two better on the day. James Fanshawe’s Argy Bhaji has a 33-222 record that screams a horse who wants to give his rivals a head start before running on. That consistent placed form is admirable, but there are now seven career runs without a win to his name and the question is whether tonight is finally the night.

The angle here is Argy Bhaji at 9/4 with Boyle Sports and Betfred (2/1 available with LiveScore Bet). Fanshawe’s yard is in cracking form at 4/19 over 14 days, Daniel Muscutt is booked for the ride, and five placed efforts in a row suggests a horse on the cusp of breaking his maiden. A tight five-furlong trip on standard Tapeta could be exactly the sharper surface he needs to get his head in front first time around. The 2/1 on LiveScore Bet represents the best starting price for win-only backers.

Spaceman at 11/10 is too short to take on with any confidence. The Fahey yard is firing with 8 winners from 55 runners lately, but the form of 2-3 still leaves you waiting for the breakthrough.

  • Selection: Argy Bhaji at 9/4 (Boyle Sports/Betfred), 2/1 available LiveScore Bet

Five career placings tell the story of a horse who consistently delivers without the luck of the draw going his way. James Fanshawe is in excellent recent form, Daniel Muscutt is an experienced partner on the Tapeta, and the standard going over five furlongs tonight should suit a horse with proven pace. At 2/1, this is fair value for a maiden that looks well within his reach.
