Yarmouth, Saturday 11 April 2026 — Tips & Selections

A steady eight-race card at Yarmouth on good ground, which suits horses with a clean action and suits front-runners on this straight, flat track. Three races are featured below where there is a genuine angle worth backing. The rest of the card looks thin or dominated by short-priced horses where the value simply isn't there. Charlie Appleby's yard is flying at 5/12 in the last 14 days, and that stat carries real weight today.

2:37 — TigerBet.co.uk National Extra Places Paid Novice Stakes (1m2f, Good)

Five runners and a short-priced favourite in Del Maro, but this race has more to it than the 4/7 suggests. Del Maro has a high RPR of 108 and solid form figures of 2323, William Buick takes the ride, and Charlie Appleby's yard is operating at a rate that demands respect. On known ability this colt simply ought to be too good for this company at a mile and two on good ground.

The interesting alternative is Sintra at 11/2 with Bet365, trained by Andrew Balding, who has shown form figures of 3-2 and clearly handles this trip. Colin Keane aboard is always a booking worth noting. But the Appleby machine is too hard to oppose here.

Selection: Del Maro — 4/7 Bet365. Back to win only at this price in a five-runner field. Buick, Appleby, and an RPR of 108 in a novice stakes. The horse has been placed consistently and is overdue a win. Good ground suits his profile.

3:12 — TigerBet.co.uk Fast Sign Up Fillies' Novice Stakes (1m2f, Good)

Nine runners and a far more competitive heat. Ottoman Empress at 15/8 is the Appleby/Buick combination again, and her RPR of 96 is the highest in the field by some distance. She finished second on debut and then won, before a break. This looks a straightforward opportunity to build on that for a filly who clearly goes on good ground.

The each-way play in a nine-runner field with three places is Harriet Quimby Each-Way at 5/1 with Bet365. She carries an RPR of 93 and has shown consistent placed form, running 3-2 in her two starts. The Crisford yard has been quietly ticking over and Harry Davies is a competent partner. This filly is likely to be involved at the finish and the 5/1 with three places paid looks generous.

I'm The One for Gosden and Oisin Murphy at 4/1 is also respected, a debutant from a top yard with Murphy booked, but the unknown quantity factor keeps her off the shortlist for a confident selection.

Selection: Ottoman Empress — 15/8 Bet365/Coral/Ladbrokes. Class of the field on figures, Buick and Appleby at the peak of their powers, and good ground suits. She should be winning this.
Each-Way: Harriet Quimby at 5/1 Bet365, three places at 1/5 odds.

3:42 — Ma And Pa Peak Birthday Handicap (1m2f, Good, 13 runners)

Now we're talking. A 13-runner handicap on good ground at Yarmouth, and this is the race of the day for value hunters.

Patagonia Girl Each-Way at 9/2 with Bet365 or William Hill is the selection. Hugo Palmer has her primed, with a TS of 75 and an RPR of 91 from form figures that read 51130. She won twice in that sequence, including most recently, and was only out of the frame once in her last five starts. Oisin Murphy takes the ride, which is a significant booking in a handicap of this nature. Palmer's yard is ticking over at 2/14 in the last fortnight, which isn't spectacular, but Murphy doesn't take rides he doesn't rate, and at 9/2 in a 13-runner handicap with four places paid, the each-way case is strong.

The danger is A Major Payne at 6/1 with BoyleSports, trained by Michael Bell who is running at 3/8 recently, a yard in noticeably good form. His TS of 82 is among the highest in the field and he comes off a consistent sequence. Hector Crouch has been riding well. If Patagonia Girl isn't your pick, this is the value alternative at 6/1 each-way.

Siouxfonic at 11/2 leads the market and has the best recent form figures, but trained by James Owen whose yard is operating at 5/46, that's a cold strike rate, and the top weight will be a burden on good ground over this trip.

Today's NAP

Patagonia Girl — Ma And Pa Peak Birthday Handicap (3:42, Yarmouth)
Odds: 9/2 — Bet365 (others: 9/2 William Hill, 5.7 Betfair Exchange)

Form figures of 51130 tell you this filly is in career-best form right now. Oisin Murphy doesn't go to Yarmouth on a Saturday for the scenery, and Hugo Palmer has placed her beautifully throughout that recent sequence. Good ground is exactly what she wants, and 9/2 in a 13-runner handicap with four places covered looks generous for a horse in this kind of nick.

Each-Way Recommended — 4 places at 1/5 odds
